Working with Tammy has been life changing. The amount of love and care she puts into her work has really shown in her training with our little Whiskey. We had opted for the 3 week board and train. Before meeting Tammy, I was worried my dog would never be able to break his fearful anxiety and special "selective hearing" condition. He was stubborn to a fault, and that worried me. Upon consultation, Tammy eased my worries and agreed to take him on. 3 weeks later and he was a different dog!!! I was amazed. He is well behaved, listens to every command, and even tolerates other dogs. It's been a couple of months since the end of the program. She has worked with him weekly since then and he continues to make great strides while remaining consistent. We even have decided to start boarding him with her once a month just so she can keep him in check. Lol Tammy, we adore you. We thank you so much for everything! Whiskey thanks you, too!

Marina is the best walker we could have hoped for. Our dog is so specific and he absolutely adores Marina. I don't know what we would do without her. She communicates with us all the time and is able to handle our boy. We trust her and feel comfortable boarding him with Marina too. Happy dog, happy owners.

Amy is amazing! In just three sessions we have seen improvement with our crazy fur baby! She knows so much about dogs, people, + how we should be interacting so that we create an environment of respect and understanding. Amy’s style of instruction is such that she assessed and corrected both myself and the dog while not being patronizing towards us. Maui (the dog) responded to Amy positively and was not frightened in the process which is something I looked for while hiring a dog trainer. We didn’t want someone who bullied us or our animal. Amy and I talked a lot about her experience with other animals and she can do some pretty amazing stuff with even the most stubborn, aggressive, and/or problematic animals. Because I was so hesitant to hire a trainer in the beginning I needed to write a wonderful review for Amy because I’m so grateful for our experience with her. If you’re having any doubts at all, go with Amy. She’s also willing to drive a seriously impressive distance to work with her clients. She also offers dog sitting and boarding. All-in-one dog care with someone you can most definitely trust. Thank you so much Amy for everything you have done for our family. We’re still over hear practicing and watching Maui improve every day!

We highly recommend Kit Pogarsky's Doggy Doggy dog boarding and day care. We have an energetic dog who likes to be near his people, and a dog kennel just wasn't right for him. When we first contacted Kit, he responded promptly and answered all our questions, and suggested we drop by to introduce our dog a few days before we went away. It was a great suggestion, as Griffie was then familiar with Doggy Doggy and Kit when we dropped him off to go out of town. Griffin has now stayed at Doggy Doggy several times, and we are totally comfortable leaving him for stays of a few days or a week or more. We know that for a reasonable price, our dog is getting the attention and exercise he craves and needs, and also gets to chill out in a great space and yard in Alameda. Very happy to recommend Doggy Doggy, -Mavis and Nick Marble

John has been taking care of my dogs for well over a decade. He is 100% reliable and trustworthy and dogs love him. he has always been very accommodating and helpful and with my second dog, he actually picks my dog up from my workplace for his walks. John also does dog boarding and I feel very confident leaving my dog there because I know he will get plenty of exercise and attention. John is the best dogwalker I've ever had.

Ann's animal boarding is fantastic. They satisfy our needs and worries. Honestly, my boyfriend and I afraid to travel since we have two chihuahuas and one kitty . We had experienced serveral failed dog boarding at else places, expensive costs and pets at home sickly afterwards that kept us not dare to try. Usually call friends to help out. However, this time no one available and we need to go business trips for two weeks. Thank you so much Yang, your family saved us. I love the short video you sent to us everyday and our dogs lively when we back. Can't wait our next trip.

Robert's advice is worth your time. A consult could ultimately save you costly mistakes with your business. Whether training a dog to obey or the owner to be in control or advising a person with business pursuits one word. Listen. He has always been patient when answering my questions. His insights are helpful. Again, listen, you may not hear what you want to but you will hear what may be the right answer.

Iʻve been delighted with the service that Isabel and her Surf Dogs company have provided me and my dog Ressie for the last couple of years. Isabel is flexible, always accommodating last-minute changes in my schedule. Sheʻs also great for overnights or long-term boarding--Ressie always comes home a happy little dog, whether sheʻs been on a several-hour walk or an overnight stay. She enjoys all her pals--human and canine--at Surf Dogs. And so do I!

    Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

How much does boarding a horse cost?

Finding the right horse boarding location is a big step in a horse owner’s life. This will be the place your horse will live and where you will visit multiple times per week or even daily. The cost of horse boarding will depend on the level of service you desire, the location of the stables, and the luxury level of the property. Here are some examples of average horse boarding costs:

    • Overnight stabling: $30 per horse per night.
    • Partial boarding (owner feeds and mucks): $220 per horse per month, with a three-month commitment.
      • Administration of oral medication: $10 per dose.
      • Bandaging: $20 per event, plus cost of materials.
      • Trailering to vet if owner is unable: $25, plus $25 per hour to wait with horse.
    • Basic full boarding: $325-$350 per month per horse. Includes twice daily hay and daily stall cleaning.
      • Horse training: $20 per session.
      • Pasture turn out: $20 per session.
      • Blanketing: $1 per day/$30 per month.
      • Vet or farrier hold: $20. This means haltering the horse and standing with it as it receives treatment or shoeing.

Where can I board my horse?

You can board your horse at any barn or stable that provides horse boarding services. To find horse boarding near you, read reviews of area locations and speak with equestrian friends to find one with a solid reputation. Ideally, the location will be within a reasonable drive from your home or office. This is especially important if you are paying for partial boarding services and are responsible for feeding your horse and cleaning its stall each day. You may choose your boarding barn or stables based on the services they provide. Some offer more extensive amenities — at an added price — that reduce the amount of work you need to do to keep your horse comfortable. Consider whether you want training, blanketing, exercise and other perks in addition to standard offerings like hay and stable mucking. Your stable may have temperament requirements and proof that your horse has the proper vaccinations required by your state. This protects both your horse and the other horses in the stable. Many states require that locations offering horse boarding services have stable licenses that are renewed each year. Always be sure to enter into a clearly written boarding contract that will cover your horse and belongings in case of accident, and remember our tips for smart hiring.

    What is horse boarding?

Horse boarding is like rental housing for your horse. Horse boarding is helpful for people who don’t have the space or the resources to install and maintain a stable on their property. A horse can be housed in a barn with other horses and receive the care they need. Owners can visit their horse for riding, grooming, training, etc. Horse boarding services may vary based on the company and the price. Some horse boarders may offer short-term boarding of 24 hours to several nights for people passing through an area, while most offer boarding by the month for horses whose owners live in the area. There is partial- and full-service boarding, which indicates how much of the work of feeding the horse and cleaning the stall is the responsibility of the owner rather than the boarding barn. For an added fee, horse boarding can also include grooming services, riding and training, medication administration, and more.

To find the right boarding fit for you and your horse, make a list of your top priorities. These might include immediate access to riding trails, round-the-clock supervision, or a nearby or affiliated veterinarian. Always visit the site to learn exactly where your horse will be kept and whether the barn and grounds are in good condition. Read reviews, and always practice smart hiring. It’s also critical to sign the proper legal documents that protect both you and your horse, such as boarding agreements. Above all, make sure it seems like a place your horse will be comfortable between your visits.

Hire skilled professionals for absolutely everything.
