Linette has been super so far and we haven't even had her food yet! We are all prepared to have her cook meals for my senior parents and deliver them. We can't wait for this to start. She's been amazingly communicative even during the busy holiday season and very empathetic to our needs (one of my parents has terminal cancer). It's going to be a huge thing to have healthy nutritional meals of my parents choosing and type (one is vegan, the other not)-made with care and flavor and delivered weekly. Linette was a fine chef. We'd hired her to deliver us 5 dishes that'd be enough 2 times a day for 2 people each week. So one dish item enough to be as one day's lunch + dinner for 2, that way we only had to worry about cooking ourselves on weekends. Beginning started off rocky (which is fine), and I was willing to give our business relationship multiple chances, but in the end, it didn't work out for several reasons.
Good part: In terms of food quality and taste, there were things she made that we absolutely loved and there were ones that we didn't enjoy much - food is so subjective after all. Quality and packaging was fine too and most of the times the portions were enough and felt as promised.
However, we soon found out that she was very inconsistent with her timing of delivery regularly, which made us hard to plan around our food schedule; could be a result of overcommitting to her business clients.
***Long version***
First impressions: We negotiated the cost per items and days of delivery along with the superset menu to begin with. Linette never showed up on the first day we'd talked about and with no communication until a day later apologizing. So we skipped that week and started the next Monday. This time she said she's held busy on Monday but can do Tuesday and we agreed. It was a bit of an effort for her to keep her coordinated time but we made it and the Enchiladas were Oh!-Mazing (no kidding)!
All that aside, it was also a challenge to keep reminding her on what we'd agreed upon. I didn't think she kept to the agreement and felt like she'd forget what was expected. For example, she'd give us 5 dishes enough for 2 people but for 1 time a day and charge the same cost as the originally planned and that'd disappoint us a bit, but we kept going.
Last days: I don't believe she took honest feedback well. For one of the last deliveries, she'd requested to overcharge us by twice (because this time the items had "more" proteins in it) and gave us less than 1 meal for 2 people worth of food for the week. The food was OK and we told her what we liked in this batch and that we want to keep just that little part for the next time, but also pointed out that extra charge was a bit unfair — not only was the cost 100% more that what we agreed upon and the quantity of food was a little over half, but also that it was unexpected and we had to seek an explanation for "why" she'd asked for more after the fact. I didn't mind that one time and paid her due, but we stopped communicating soon after that.
Conclusion: My wife and I are a patient couple and were both getting busier each day. And that is why we hired Linette — to make our lives a bit more easier and healthier in the food front — but instead we ended up adding more complications and uncertainty; in the end it was a bullet well dodged 😅
Epilogue: This was our first experience with hiring any personal chef, and has left us wholly discouraged, not be willing to try anyone again for a while. And so continues our struggles with cooking/eating healthy…sigh.

Linette is an amazing chef and equally as amazing person! She will customize and accommodate to fit every need. I have a ton of food allergies which always made eating a grueling experience, but Linette’s skills and creativity have made me love food again!
