Introduction: The thing we like most about our job is getting to spend time with the animals. We have 4 cats ourselves and we also foster puppies and cats. We love all animals, fish, lizards, snakes, cats, rats you name we love to be around them. The other thing is that we get to meet so many different types of animals that we normally wouldn't get a chance to take care of. We have taken care of poisonous frogs, snakes, birds, tropical fish, iguanas....

Elizabeth and Steven did a phenomenal job taking care of our 14 week old labradoodle Monty and our 7 year old Jack Russell Terrier Cooper. Because of Monty's age they stayed in our home which was not something we were initially comfortable with until we met Elizabeth. She immediately put us at ease with her professionalism and friendly nature. While the dogs were under their care we received consistent updates on what they were up to. We had a change of schedule and they were incredibly accommodating. Before they left they changed out sheets, cleaned up and left a really nice note...from the dogs. I would highly recommend Pawsitively Purrfect to anyone who needs pet sitting.

Professional in home care of my 2 cats. Feeding, managing the litter box, and generally being responsible for my pets while I'm overseas. I had total confidence in their work

We have used Elizabeth and Stephen twice this year to look after our two cats while on breaks away from home and would definitely recommend them to anyone with pets. They are always thoughtful and helped put our mind at ease while away by sending us a photo of the cats chilling :)

Elizabeth was very friendly, responsive and professional. The fact that she asked for emergency contacts, vet information, etc. was very reassuring. She came every day, even on Christmas day. I would definitely recommend her to others.

Details: Cat • 2 pets • Giving food and water • Providing companionship • Changing litter or bedding • Short visit (30 minutes) • Once a day • My home, venue, etc.

FAQs

  • How did you get started doing this type of work?

I have always wanted to work with animals but being a vet was not an option. I would not be able to handle the really sick and dying animals. In 1994 I read a copy of Cat Fancy magazine about the pet sitting profession and thought now this is for me. I can work with animals who look forward to seeing me and get to spend time playing and caring for more than I could ever have on my own. I do care for some sick animals once in a while giving them medication and fluids but because it is not part of my everyday routine so I am happy to care for them.

  • What types of customers have you worked with?

We come to your home once or twice a day to feed, brush, play, and cleanup after your pet. Your dogs can be walked and pets can be given medication for no additional fee. We will bring in you mail, newspaper, adjust your lighting and draperies for home security, and will also water you plants and gardens. Our visits are about 30 to 40 minutes in length.

  • What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

The number one thing to look for in hiring a pet sitter is to look at how long they have been in business. In our case we have been in business for more than 15 years. The longer a business has been around the more references they will have. This doesn't mean the newer business will not do a great job it is just there is more to look at in an older established business. I know we were a new business at one time, all I am saying is do your homework. The other thing to look at is the rate structure if the business is charging a fee that is out of line with the rest of the businesses, buyer beware. An example is if everyone is charging $20 per visit and someone else is charging $12. There is to much of a difference. Most of the time the business will not be a professional service(part time or on the side) or they will have just started. Do yourself a favor and check references very carefully. You want to make sure that the pet sitter will be there no matter what, whether they are sick or not, holidays, emergencies no matter what. The pets always come first. A professional pet sitter will always be there for your pets. Most pet sitters do a great job.
