I took drawing lessons with Celia when I was in high school years ago. She really helped me improve my composition, sketching, and shading techniques, leading to more realistic and refined pictures. My parents were also happy because we added a bunch more art decor for the house! Celia is a great person all-around, and an amazing artist. I highly recommend her!
Our son has had the privilege of calling Shelley Capovilla his art tutor since 2010. She is a warm, creative, and professional artist who has lovingly overseen our 12 year old son's technical, fine-art education for the past three years. While I, myself, would not ever have considered myself artistically inclined, I happily audited a few sessions with Shelley and throughly enjoyed the opportunity to learn more about watercolor (something I'd always wanted to try and was too chicken before :0) Shelley has also shared her amazing face painting capabilities for our younger child's birthday parties (and beautifully customized to his theme, Angry Birds!). She adorned my hands with henna tattoos for a Bollywood party, too (her work received rave reviews)! Her skill-set is vast, and she is highly gifted within a board range of mediums. While we originally had sought Shelley's services for a purely technical, classic fine art education we found our son benefited from her extensive knowledge beyond just the scope of composition and color values! Shelley, as a person, is just as overwhelming diverse and lovely as her artistic abilities. Being a mother of two sons herself, she's mentored our child regarding the social gauntlet of middle school and early adolescence, she's been overwhelmingly supportive of his creative ideals, and a fierce advocate for his passions and interests in spite of them aligning with most people's idea of a "traditional art" education. For example, it was comic book drawing and "spy buildings" that got him started in the beginning. He's had the opportunity to work with a variety of mediums and techniques, as she believes a true artist is able to improvise and be creative outside their artistic comfort zones. He now is seriously considering going to an art high school in a couple years, and we very much attribute his positive outlooks and associations with art and design to Shelley's considerate care. For all of these reasons and more, I highly endorse Shelley Capovilla to any family seeking commissioned art services or a comprehensive art instructor!
I have worked with Sayaka for several years, and she has given me a lot of helpful advice on how to improve my painting and drawing skills. She offers me insightful feedback on my completed work, as well as encourages me to take on new projects that I would never otherwise consider. For example, I am more comfortable painting in acrylic, but Sayaka has inspired me to try oil, and since then, I have broadened my horizons and feel ready to take on new challenges. Thank you Art Journey for making my artistic journey that much more fun and adventurous!
We love FAME. Ms. Gloria is a fantastic teacher. She makes piano lessons fun.
What can I say? He is really just what I was looking for; Excited and passionate about art and teaching art. Very good at wisely asking investigative questions to narrow down the approach he will take. Lightning speed with getting back to me. And he taught the lesson on his birthday! Doesn’t get any more selfless than that!
Bill is very intuitive and able to tailor the lesson to the needs of the student. He is proficient in many different mediums and allows the student to chose the medium as well as the subject matter. He gently guides the process, offers advice when asked and is able to offer constructive criticism and suggestions for improvement along the way. He is an excellent teacher.
Vita has been teaching art to my daughter for a year. She has been a wonderful teacher and a wise and warm life-coach. With Vita's instruction and guidance, my daughter dramatically expanded her skills and gained a newfound self-confidence. It is thanks to Vita that my daughter was able to achieve her goal of admission to a competitive arts middle school. Vita is a gem!

Claire is a wonderful instructor who showed up with a complete lesson plan for our class outside in San Francisco. I've taken several art classes and Claire is easily in the top 10% in terms of the quality of her lesson and the useful tips she gave us througout. My father said he learned more in one session from her than all his lessons back in high school. She taught us for three hours and we had a wonderful experience and have already planned a second lesson.
Paul Wood from Young At Art contacted me within hours, and was very prompt in communicating and answering all our questions. We were enrolled for art lessons within days.
My third grader and myself have taken art lessons in the past with Sneha and I truely recommend her. Sneha is very personable, patient and skilled. She not only teaches you painting techniques but also celebrates your inner creativity. We have created gorgeous paintings while having fun in a relaxed atmosphere. I have proudly displayed our paintings on a gallery wall in our home :) Sign-up for her classes and get inspired!
I have a lifetime of serious art training and can actually draw, in a world where these days, everyone thinks they can't, and so no one tries any more, not even very many artists. I have an MFA from NYU and also studied art at Columbia, Parsons, the New School, the professional atelier of a prominent New York artist, and the San Francisco Art Institute. I studied art all over New York and Italy and France. I've spent my entire life drawing and painting. I have enough internal mastery of my craft to constantly innovate and pioneer new ideas all based on a solid foundation.
My name is Gaia, I'm an art student who took weekly private drawing and painting lessons with artist Reza. My time with Reza has been a very valuable experience for my blossoming career in the arts. For anyone considering to take private lessons I just want to share the benefits that you won't have in a regular classroom: • one on one interaction. • experiencing detailed demonstrations of first hand execution of every project by the teacher. • personalized instruction allows you to focus on your deficiencies and how to improve on them. Reza is a very talented artist, professional and expert of technique he is adept at instructing every level from beginners to advanced. I found it especially valuable to learn his classical training of painting.

My teaching stands out because I have much experience and patience with students of all skill levels. I am knowledgeable and enthusiastic.
I am a fine art painter, muralist and faux finisher. I am also a certified interior designer and art director. I'm really crafty. I do crocheting, knitting, and many other techniques. I am also a dancer. I can teach Zumba and salsa.
My services include fine art paintings, commissions, and watercolor or oil. I am a teacher of painting workshops, classes, demonstrations and seminars. I am also a juror, judge and speaker.
I've been drawing, sketching, painting and sculpting since I was old enough to hold a pencil. My work has been exhibited in galleries, given awards, and some years ago, I was privately mentored by an admissions officer (and successful fine artist) from the Cooper Union School of Art. But none of that really matters! Let's get together and draw, paint, or sculpt. I'll help you understand the pros, cons, and nuances of different media; how to look at your subjects as an artist; how to plan your compositions -- it all depends on what you want to learn. Let's have some fun.
I offer birth support. I am a labor doula, and can assist with postpartum care for those who are without family/community support. I am trained at comfort measures for childbirth and am 24/7 support once labor starts up. I also am trained to do placenta encapsulation as well.
