Lawrence is nothing short from amazing! I was stood up by my photographer on my wedding day. With only 1hr to spare before my ceremony. Lawrence came through in the clutch with only 45min of notice. Not only did he make it in time. Our wedding pictures are Amazing!!! The turnaround time to receive my pictures was only 7hrs. I would definitely have Lawrence on speed dial if I ever need a photographer in the Bay Area!!!

Michael was awesome as our wedding day photographer. He made us all feel super comfortable and was conscious about making sure we did not feel like the picture taking was stealing time away from our wedding festivities. He also was great about where and when to get the best shots and was super accommodating to any ideas we had. he was also quick with the turnaround and the end result pictures were amazing! Would highly recommend for a shoot.

Awesome...and...Awesome ! Both working with Brian and his pictures! Brian is the nicest, most easy-going guy and everyone loved him! He came to the venue the day before the wedding and we talked about the different photo op locations and ideas my daughter had. He was open to whatever we wanted, very flexible and hard working. He had to go up and down the mansion stairs multiple times to capture both the girls getting ready upstairs and the groomsmen downstairs. He was all over the place! He fit right in with all of us, and I felt like we'd known him for years! He stayed working for as long as we needed to get all of the events recorded and never missed a beat (or shot)! His rate for the day was very very reasonable for the amount of work he did and while processing time for all of the pics (over a 1000) will take several weeks, he was able to upload up a generous number of shots highlighting the whole day to a website for viewing and downloading within about a week! And his pictures are truly amazing! He captured so much love and happiness in everything and everyone! I'm so happy we chose Brian to shoot my daughter's wedding and can't recommend him enough to anyone looking for a wedding photographer! He just the right person for the job. Hands down. I can't wait to see the rest of the pictures and we'll definitely use him again for any other big photography events!

Cindy was the exact personality you need in a wedding photographer: caring and assertive in her direction, without being pushy. She was incredibly open and kind to all our friends and family. She's dependable and calming. And of course the photos: they were beautiful beyond our expectations!

Sheila is not only a talented photographer but also very professional. She is very communicative and was a pleasure to work with. She was a joy to have around during the wedding day and was honestly a "fly on the wall" unlike other wedding photographers who are too "in it". The pictures she takes are beautiful and extremely well priced. I would not hesitate to work with her again. I actually look forward to it.

We had our pre wedding photoshoot done by Diane and it was a great experience. We were visiting SF for a few days and were wondering if we will be able to capture the essence of the place in the photoshoot, but Diane drove us to the most beautiful places in the city and clicked lifelong memories. We had some pictures clicked with our friends as well and they came out really well. Diane was very flexible and it was fun spending the entire day with her. She made us really comfortable and helped us all along the photoshoot. I will highly recommend her to couples for their wedding and prewedding photoshoots.

We used LuvlyProduction for our wedding photobooth in May 2018. I was impressed by their responsiveness and their desire to make sure we had a good experience working with them. Our guests really enjoyed the props and enclosed photobooth!!! I had no complaints from our coordinator about setup or teardown. Would not hesitate to book again :)

Eric and his assistant, Claire were so professionally unobtrusive during my daughter’s wedding event, I did not even notice they were there. The proof of their presence is in the captivating candid photos and the beautiful artistic photos that recorded the entire day. Everyone looks amazing. Eric perfectly captured the unique personalities of the bride and groom throughput the day. I was not able to meet Eric until the day of the wedding because I live overseas. I chose based upon his portfolio and online communication. What could have been a series of pretty pictures of a cookie cutter country club wedding with another photographer is instead a perfect blend of photojournalism, fine art, and traditional styles, Eric’s and Claire’s work show the very present, palpable feelings between the bride and groom. Perfect.

Choosing Jennifer as our photographer for our wedding day was the best decision we made. Great communication since our first conversation. Our wedding day was chaotic! But she was there trying to do whatever she could to help us. The photos of our wedding beat our expectations, she was able to capture all the love and happiness of our wedding, everyone who saw our pictures loved them! Thank you Jen for being awesome and capturing such amazing images of the best day of our lives!

If you’ve been waiting for “that one review” to really prove that Oaktown Boudoir is the way to go- don’t wait anymore! Cheshire Isaacs is a true exemplar of all that a professional boudoir photographer should strive to be. He is open and receptive to his client’s ideas without losing focus. He is honest and genuine without ever being insensitive. He is incredibly professional without ever being stuffy. The Bay Area is filled with Boudoir Photographers, so I guess the best way to write a proper review is to outline what exactly my own (popular) concerns were and how Cheshire proved triumphant! 1. Will I be comfortable? As a young woman, I was a little concerned about being erotically photographed by a man. Having been through a shoot, it’s obvious that Cheshire cares- from his personally designed music playlists (made in the interest of making the experience as comfortable as possible) to his handmade cheese and cracker platters. He continually went above and beyond for my session and I admire his passion, enthusiasm, and dedication. It shows in both his beautiful work and the long-lasting relationships he has with his clients. He spoke about his wife and daughter frequently, something that showed me his appreciation and respect for women, immediately putting me at ease. 2. Can his studio fit more than one “style” of photoshoot? Cheshire’s studio is open, bright, and filled with possibilities. He can transform the space to fit, I kid you not, any personality and style. In a matter of minutes (just enough time to refill a wine glass), his studio can go from a brightly lit angelic state to a dark, sexy, and sultry one. He mentioned having custom-designed the space alongside his wife, something that told me just how invested he was in the style and overall vibe of his studio. For my images in particular, I knew that I wanted little editing and wanted the images to be as “real” as possible. Somehow Cheshire still made it look like I was a model and knew exactly how to manipulate each pose to accentuate all the good and cleverly soften all the bad (without photoshop). 3. Will I get my money’s worth? Whichever amount of time you decide to book Cheshire for, know that not a minute will be wasted. He knows how to get down to business and not waste time while simultaneously not rushing through any poses. This guy was sweating as he climbed up and down ladders, moved heavy couches and bed sets, and adjusted lights. His hard work pays off in the beauty of his finished products! His experience in the field is obvious in the way he can quickly evaluate a pose and make small nuanced changes in position to get a desired look. I am but a poor college student and Cheshire’s prices were definitely better than most photographers around. He could easily charge three times as much for his services and would still be the deal of a lifetime. 4. Will my images be published? Cheshire was very thorough and attentive when listening to what I was comfortable with. He assured me that no images would be posted without explicit approval. In the end, his work was so beautiful that I would have been fine with it being printed on billboards and bus ads- really! 5. What about makeup? Cheshire notified me in one of our first correspondences that he had a partnership with a makeup artist, Thuy, who would be on-site for a small fee. Let me tell you- Thuy is more than simply a makeup artist- she really does it all. Not only did she do an absolutely spectacular job with my makeup, but she was the ultimate hype-woman!!! She stayed for nearly the entire session for touch-ups, glamour, and enthusiastic words of support. The experience wouldn’t have been the same without her. Every person that sees the finished images says, “Wow, I wish I’d done something like this.” Don’t be that person! Don’t wait another day, don’t look for another review, don’t google “Boudoir Photographer” again. Oaktown Boudoir is that good. Doing a boudoir shoot is obviously a large lump sum of money to dedicate to something that isn’t necessarily “necessary,” but my experience with Oaktown Boudoir is something that I will truly treasure for the rest of my life and always reflect on with a smile and a deep, deep appreciation for Cheshire Isaacs! He knows how to make a client feel like a friend, and that’s something you don’t come by often.

Our team loved working with Fifi at an event we held in the office last week. She is an absolute delight and a truly talented photographer—the event was so popular, Fifi kindly stayed an extra half hour as so many folks in our office wanted photos. We are super pleased and can't wait to show off our new professional headshot photos on LinkedIn and beyond. Highly recommended!

Before working with Nico, he was already one of my favorite photographers. His style always caught my eye, but working with him cemented his place in my heart! He is professional and hilarious. We had so much fun searching for impromptu spots and making jokes while shooting. The way Nico posed me during shoots was effortless and easy. He has very clear ideas, and explains how he wants the shot to look so the model has a clear idea of the vision. He was open to my ideas and I felt like we were creative equals. I cannot wait to shoot with him again. A wonderful experience!

Andre was amazing. I hired him for a friends wedding. The bride wasn’t planning on hiring a photographer so I hired him as a gift. He was so adaptable to the unorthodox wedding and was able to get up close and really capture all the best moments. Everyone at the wedding mentioned how professional and friendly he was. And he sent me the pictures immediately! Thanks so much Andre!

It was a pleasure working with Omar all along. Even though I only got in touch with him 10 days before my wedding he still found time to meet with us and discuss what wedding style we are expecting, he showed us samples of previous work similar to what we were expecting. On the wedding day he showed up on time and suited up. He proceeded to take pictures of the hall and to take family and couples pictures. Even through the stress of a wedding he stayed calm and managed to blend in with the guests (if it weren't for the camera you'd think he's a guest!) which helped him take great pictures that he also delivered to us on time! 100% would hire again!

Frank was our photographer for our wedding at the iconic city hall in San Francisco. Working with Frank was a pleasure and we couldn't be happier with the results. The images he took of our ceremony and of us as a family in city hall are now cherished heirlooms. Frank was professional throughout the entire process, he was the first person to arrive at city hall (he was early) and he took a creative approach throughout, not only taking photos of the ceremony but he also took beautiful shots of the the environment and candid photos of our family going with us through the whole process. Upon completion of the ceremony Frank promptly shared with us the results which included not only the raw camera files, but a complete set of color corrected and edited photos. The results are stunning. I highly recommend working with Frank should you need a photographer. Jhanette, Oakland, CA

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

How much does it cost for a photographer for a wedding?

Finding the right wedding photographer can make a big difference for your ceremony. Nationally, the average wedding photographer’s price ranges from $800 to $1,000, but costs can be much higher in areas like Chicago, New York or Los Angeles where some couples spend $2,000 to $5,000 or more for the photographer they want. Factors that can affect your wedding photographer prices include the photographer’s reputation and experience. Heavy hitters can command top rates, especially during wedding-season weekends. Day of the week also affects your cost. You may get a $200 discount on wedding photographer prices if you get married on a Friday in November rather than a Saturday in June. Time onsite is also an important cost factor. Hiring a photographer to snap photos from the moment you wake up until after last call at the reception is going to cost more than five hours of pictures during the day. Multiple photographers, special lighting, and videography will also increase your costs. Ultimately you want to find someone who has a style you love and can provide the number of edited shots you want for a price you can handle. Learn more about hiring a wedding photographer.
