Sorry this pro can’t do your job, but we know other pros who can.
Introduction: I have 27 years' experience in teaching music and would be able to help you with most anything. I love tutoring because I love to help students succeed. Tutoring is great because students can get their questions answered and get better very quickly. It is wonderful to be able to help people have their dreams come true! I enjoy meeting different adults and children and working one on one with them. I have a bachelor of music degree from Berklee College of Music, a master's degree from Mills College, a CA teaching credential, and a PhD in Education from Capella University. Although patient, I will ask you to practice a lot at home between lessons. Please contact me if you have questions or would like to schedule lessons. I would love to hear from you!

Maureen Spranza, PhD, is a gifted music teacher. Not only does she teach well, but she is also an accomplished musician. "Ms. Maureen", as we call her, has over 20 years of experience working with students of all levels. She teaches piano, clarinet, trumpet, trombone, flute saxophone, and violin. My 8 and 10 year old boys both take 30 minutes of weekly piano lessons from Ms Maureen at Music Unlimited in San Leandro. Their instruction includes all facets of learning - from ear training, to technique, to theory. My 8 year old is a beginner and my 10 year old has been playing for 3 years. Her lessons include an optional Certificate of Merit program that "offers performance, development and evaluation opportunities for students". To learn more, visit mtac.org. I really appreciate how she encourages participation in recitals throughout the year, which allows her students to perform both informally and formally to other students, teachers, and family. We are extremely lucky to have found Ms. Maureen!!! The kids are progressing and are having fun learning. They are filling our house with beautiful music. I highly recommend her to piano learners of all ages!

We have enjoyed having Maureen as our family's music teacher throughout the past 8 years. My daughter has taken piano and violin lessons with Maureen and has been doing a great job. She is playing classical music on violin in school and in YOSAC (Youth Orchestra of Southern Alameda County). On piano this is her second year participating in the MTAC.org classical music Certificate of Merit program, a rigorous evaluation that includes performance, sight-reading, technique, ear training, and music theory. She is also learning to play the blues and jazz, as well as learning to compose music. My son started taking flute lessons with Maureen in 2009 and advanced through the levels very quickly. He plays flute in YOSAC (Youth Orchestra of Southern Alameda County). He also plays saxophone and tried out and was selected for the Alameda County Honor Band. Maureen worked with him on jazz theory and improvisation and he plays in the jazz band at school. With Maureen, he worked through all six levels of Master Theory and was ready to study college level AP Music Theory at 14 years old. He also completed the MTAC (Music Teacher's Association of California) Composer's Today workbooks and used http://www.noteflight.com to write his own music and participate in composition contests. Both of my children have been able to successfully participate in the LaHonda Summer Music Camp. We have had a great experience with Maureen and have enjoyed seeing her each week.

Dr. Spranza is one of the best piano teachers in the Bay Area. My two daughters take weekly lessons with her. She encourages them and empowers them to do their best. She teaches them both theory and practicals. They have participated in an informal recital and are now registered to take part in the MTAC Certificate of Merit program. As parents, we see a big improvement in our daughters' piano playing skills. They even practice on their own, without us telling them to. All thanks to Dr. Spranza.
