FAQs
- How did you get started doing this type of work?
I started working with my dad and grandpa when I was 12 years old. Worked full time as a carpenter for 10 years then got into management and real estate development. I still work full time running really big projects but still like to do carpentry and odd jobs
- Describe a recent project you are fond of. How long did it take?
I just installed a Dutch door (ie top and bottom independent pieces) for a client. It was quite the task installing a new door on an old jamb. Lots of customization required. Add on the fact that client and her husband were in their 80s and the knob and deadbolt had to be really well aligned for ease of use, and I had a job that I knew needed to be done well. It took 2 full days to prime and paint the 3 color door and another 12 hours of installation and finishing touch up work.
- What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?
Know what your desired outcome is and, have as many design choices made before you are paying the hourly rate. Construction projects usually always require more time than you think.
