FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
Our pricing is simply based on the actual work time of the installation. It's honest, it's simple and it's very fair. Charging a flat rate typically means that company is charging more than the actual time to do the work and they've padded their flat rates accordingly. We'd prefer to give you the benefit of actual time rather than fluffing up our rates to cover any unexpected circumstances. Our hourly rate and time minimums are extremely reasonable compared to industry rates and especially so when you factor in drive time, fuel costs, tolls and the fees we pay to be introduced to you as a new client. Also we won't charge you for our time if we made a mistake and don't get it right on our initial effort. That's on us, not you. We promise to get you completely set up and only charge for the time dedicated to serving you the best way possible.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
Typically, we will start with a text conversation, but we're delighted to chat on the phone to get to know you a bit and give each of us a chance to discuss things, elements that might not come up texting. Once we plan a date for our work to be done, we roll with all of the tools and equipment we might need for your job loaded up and ready for installation. You can select your own gear, but we ENCOURAGE you to let us help you plan your gear and service purchases given the vast amount of knowledge we have built up with over 50 years in the industry. We often go shopping with our clients to select the gear, pick it up and install it the same day. Without a profit motivation to sell you anything we happen to have in our back room, we make sure that what we recommend is the best possible product for you application and budget. Once we've got everything set up and working, hardware and software alike, we will train you on how to operate the system. On bigger systems that are more complex we will often break the orientation/training process up into several visits to not overload you with information all at once. Once you are one of our Tech Home Heroes Clients, we believe in growing a long-term relationship with you to be there when you need a quick answer, or a new product or system integrated into your existing technology systems. This includes adding cameras, sensors, new speakers, TVs, smart devices, and lighting. We'll be there for you, and we already know you and your system. We know your desires, tastes and budget and can quickly advise you on what to do next. That insider's knowledge can really speed things up and make it more comfortable for you and your family. It's kind of like seeing the same doctor that you've been working with for years, instead of having to explain everything all over again to someone who is new to you. Very efficient and comfortable.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
We trained starting back in technology programs beginning in high school then went on to do custom installations. Then we study it in universities collaborating with some of the brightest designers, planers and engineers defining the systems of the future. Later we became experts in project management roles learning to plan and implement large, long-term projects with the smartest minds in the tech industry at some of the biggest and most cutting-edge companies in the world. Over time we accumulated enough knowledge to lead in the development of new cutting-edge technology standards that literally defined the future of many of the technologies you have in your hand, home, and offices today. We know how to design it, build it, and make it work for you and your needs. Count on us to be your Tech Home Heroes!
