FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
Design fees are $125 per hour. The hours involved depends on the scope of the project. An estimated time frame of design fee hours will be given after the first and free initial consultation. Depending on how much more time than that the client needs with the designer, the time can exceed the original quote. If hours are getting close to the hours quoted, the client will be notified and asked if they would like to add more time on per hour per monthly basis or put an specific hour max that once that time is reached, design services would be completed regardless if the project is completed. All materials for a project can be purchased through me at a discounted price. You would never pay retail for products. Contractor/Fabricator/Installer prices are charged separately though the contractor of your choice, either recommended by me or if you are coming into the project with a contractor.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I am currently in the process of studying for the CCIDC, California Council for Interior Design Certification, which I test in October for. I am also studying for the CDT, Construction Document Technology certification, through the CSI, Construction Specification Institute, which I am becoming a member of this year as well as becoming a member of the NKBA, National Kitchen and Bath Association.
- How did you get started doing this type of work?
When I think back to being a little girl, I always loved design. My parents would come home from work when I was about age 5, to the entire house having a different furniture layout and staging of all the decorations. They would ask me if the babysitter did it or even helped and the answer was always, "No, I did it and all by myself!". As I grew older and graduated high school I started in cellular sales and after 7 years of being in that business I decided to go back to school for something I loved and was passionate about, and that was Interior Design.
