Mo Zhao has been one of the best Music Theory teachers that I have ever had the pleasure of studying with. Mo is organized, patient, explicit when explaining difficult concepts, and very amusing. What I thoroughly enjoyed about our time together, were her teaching methods. She would send me recordings of pieces to listen to and analyze, she would send me recordings of rhythmic lines that I would then have to dictate, she would have me play the piano while singing solfége, etc. I also appreciate how Mo is very conversational. She would always make sure that I was focused and understood what she was talking about, and she allowed me to ask questions when I needed to. Furthermore, as a lot of Music teachers focus on solely Music theory in classical Music, Mo is different. In fact, Mo encouraged me to listen to more Pop music so that I could further understand and recognize chord structures and progressions. If I could recognize these things in Pop music, I would be able to in Classical Music--that was very helpful.
Mo is definitely a one-of-a-kind teacher and person. Under her instruction, I have definitely grown as a musician and as a music theorist. I sincerely recommend Mo Zhao for anyone who is looking for a skilled piano, composition, and Music Theory teacher.

I met 4 different piano teachers that responded to me on Thumbtack and Mo Zhao, (Piano, Theory and Composition Lessons) was far and away the very best teacher for me. She is enthusiastic, patient, and is always interested in what I am learning from her. She always gives me time to ask questions on anything she is teaching to me. I have learned more from her in the past 3 weeks, since we started, than I have learned from any other teacher in several years. I would recommend her to any student at any level, and from child to adult.
