FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
Typically fees range from 3-12% of the estimated retail construction costs with the higher percentages being applied to the lower budgets. This of course is a general rule and is very dependant on the intricacy of the design and what services you would like 1to1 to provide. We try to make our proposals as easy to follow as possible so you understand exactly what you are and are not getting. Police, Fire Fighters and Active Duty/Veteran Military members always receive a 15% discount on all fees. If you're a Marine it's 17.75% 1to1 Design Studio hourly rates are as follows: Design Director/Lead Design $200hr Drafter/Jr. Designer $125hr Administration $65
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
All projects start with an initial meet and greet. COVID has made this a bit difficult but I do prefer to be on-site to get a feel for everything from site conditions to how your daily routines are affected by the existing home. Once you approve the fee proposal we will go through a questionnaire so I can really understand how your family intends to use the space and what you ultimately want out of the home. I want to design a home for you... not whomever you may sell it to in the future. At this point, we start the process of getting into the proposed floor plan sketches. Depending on the extent of the project this may be hand sketch to quickly get us in the right direction or it could go right into our 3D software allowing us to look at the space from all angles during the design process.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I studied Architecture, worked for an Architect, and ultimately fell in love with, and missed the built environment. I have spent the last few years, since 2013 working with/for Builders who are passionate about design. I've provided Construction Documents for these contractors while also working side by side with them during the construction process making sure what is built functions, and looks amazing.
