FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
All my services are offered free of charge. Freewill offerings of any (appropriate) form of gratitude are all gratefully accepted! :)
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
All the time: most of my continuing ed is done "in the field" --learning from each new person i work with-- and through the research i do, continually, online. In addition, i am always studying texts related to my field, my profession, and vocational calling. (The most recent: Personality and Personal Growth, a text on psychosocial aspects of personality and one's development, psychologically; all the major Western psychological approaches are covered, as well as the theories of personality (in the religious thought/ traditions) of Eastern origin; Effective Group Dynamics and Leadership; the Combining and Breakdown of ATP in Aerobic & Anabolic Cellular Metabolism and the Krebs Cycle; and The Mastery of Love (by Miguel Ruiz), a Toltec treatise on the Real (Inner) Work of personal development....
- How did you get started doing this type of work?
Grew up being good with cats, could feel how they wanted to be pet; later found i was good with massaging (humans, too)-- learned i had a "knack" for finding how to unlock impingements and providing relief from chronic challenges, in my first year or two... stopped taking courses in electronics (decided i didn't want to make a living impersonally testing circuits) and went into nursing-- got private work with a quadriplegic vet, straight out of school, and, after two years of doing his daily stretching and massage, decided i could make a career of it, so i went to school for massage therapy. But it wasn't just for massage; i was lucky enough to enroll at the New Mexico School of Natural Therapeutics, which had an eclectic, well-rounded 1000 hrs course of training in all major forms of therapy, both Eastern and Western, and teachers who emphasized awareness and good energy-- of approach, methods, body mechanics, and the Integral aspects and nature of healing. One of the NDs who ran the program became the first full Trager practitioner in NM, and encouraged me to take the Trager training, which revolutionized my approach (though i was already leaning toward movement-oriented bodywork); i have since attended college PE classes in movement (Tai Chi, Dance, Feldenkreis, Alexander Method Acting), and have continually done my own continuing education, studying the likes of Emily DaAud's Micromovements, Hatha yoga, Reichian Energetics, Chi Gung, Jeet Kune Do (Bruce Lee's martial art -- a Formless form), Aikido (-Jo, & -Bo), Wing T'sun, and Paul St. John's neuromuscular therapy, in addition to continually reading up on the latest findings in physiology, nutrition, and molecular biology. The same "knack" i had, when i was petting cats as a child, and when unlocking my girlfriend's "trick shoulder" --from her long hours painting, as an artist-- at 18 yrs, is the same combination of kinesthetic awareness & empathetic compassion that, after all these years of development, i still rely on, as i use as many of the tools in my "black bag" as needed to help my clients heal, become Balanced, and more Whole!
