Creative Keyboard Music Education

As a 25-year-experienced teacher, I have been teaching keyboard instruments from kindergartners to college students. I am interested in discovering each student's strengths, helping students to realize their full potential, and guiding the beginner with clear instructions and helping advanced students to enhance their techniques and musicality. For beginners, the lesson starts with singing and playing notes at the same time, which enables to develop their aural and singing skills from the early age. As moving up to next levels, students work on 12 major scales and arpeggio, and triad chord progressions, which make them prepare for technical demands when they learn more advanced works later. On that stage, they are able to create their own composition. Diverse genres and styles will be explored by dealing with a wide range of repertory that nourishes them to cultivate their creative music-making and musicianship. For adult students who are self-taught or have no experience, I begin with where they are, discussing what they would like to accomplish through lessons with me first. I often find their passion is greater than young students. My role is to help and keep motivating students by introducing broad repertory in various genres.
