Venom was the first company who got a hold of me. Joe who owns the company guaranteed his price and came out in the afternoon. He took care of the bee problem and has a 90 day guarantee, most others were more expensive and had a 30-60 day guarantee. Joe also had the best price and guarantee on monthly servicing all our bug problems. I would highly recommend Joe and his company!!!

I had approx 5 hours to find someoene to handle a bee issue in the backyard in preparation of a wedding. BugAbate gave me a quote and said they could be there within 2 hours. I feel bad because I can't remember the name of the kind and extremely courteous gentleman that came, but he is a ROCK STAR! I had included in a note there was a wedding happening hours later and his wife was kind and perceptive in making sure she passed along this information. He not only showed up prior to the 2 hour mark but found a nest of wasps and got rid of them too. Also, when he realized the job was not as invasive as originally thought he gave us a discount! I highly recommend BugAbate to anyone!

Exzellent, friendly , knowledgable and very forthcoming !!! Would highly recommend this folks to anybody in need of any pest removal in or around your home !!! I had a problem with crickets and Waterbugs wandering into my home from the backyard ... We could not open our screen doors for more than a second without having a couple of crickets hopping inside ... It was driving us mad ... Well ... I decided to go with Fume-a-pest because they had great reviews and reasonable rates ... and I do not regret my decision because the owner ( whom I set up the Appointment with ) is super nice and even told me if i wasn't satisfied to call and they would come back for a second time!!! So far so good!!!! Thank you !!!!

The Critter Trapper has gotten us out of several jams over the past few years. The most recent incident involved an expired animal underneath our house. The animal had not only gotten trapped, but had destroyed a portion of our wall and built a nest. Despite a busy schedule, Jose came to our home the morning that we called him. He not only crawled under the house and removed the animal, he spent hours removing the nest and cleaning the entire problem area. He also helped us seal the entrance underneath our house to prevent future problems. My husband and I have never met a professional that will go the extra mile like Jose. He's always there to answer our calls, and he's saved us a ton of money with his advice and trouble shooting help. He never over charges, and he will bend over backwards to help his clients. We plan to call him the next time we have a problem with neighborhood raccoons.

Billy does exceptionally great work and he is timely. He was initially hired to remove old pavers and repave my walkway with bricks. Subsequently, I hired him to do additional work, including rebuilding my planter with bricks. I am very pleased with Billy's work and, in the future, would hire him again!

    Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

What do pest control companies do?

Pest control companies handle all aspects of bug, rodent and animal extermination or removal. Pest control professionals visit your home or office to identify the type of pest that is troubling you and offer various treatment plans — complete with clearly outlined costs. Once you and the pest control company have a signed agreement, the pro will begin treatment. Pest treatment can range from the use of spray pesticides and gel bait to live and/or kill traps. There are a wide range of types of pesticides, many of them nontoxic for humans and other small animals. This means you may be able to have your home treated for pests without harming nearby wildlife or your dog and cat. The pest control pro will carry out the treatment plan and, depending on the service agreement, provide follow-up such as emptying traps, inspecting access points, or reapplying pesticide spray if the pests return. Costs will vary based on the type of pest you are having removed and the extent of the infestation. The average national pest control price range is $80-$130. From a minor bedbug event to an entire home termite infestation, pest control companies have got you covered.

How much does it cost to remove a mouse?

If you have a mouse in your house you’re probably quickly researching pest control costs. Mice, although tiny, can transmit diseases and also get into your food and leave unsanitary droppings around your home. If you have seen one mouse in your house, it’s likely that more have taken up residence in your crawl space, attic or basement. The national average pest control cost is $150-$200. Costs can vary depending on whether you need to get rid of a population of living mice or just dispose of a dead mouse (or full traps), how extensive the mouse population is, and where you live in the country. Here are some examples of average pest control cost for removing a mouse:

    • $150 for initial trap setup and inspection (and sealing of entry holes).
      • $50 for rodent removal service calls and emptying of traps. This visit can also include identifying and sealing entry points that were not sealed on the first visit.
    • Rodent extermination: $110-$350, depending on how heavy the rodent population is, whether the mouse infestation poses health risks, how many entrances exist and how many rodent bait stations are needed.

How much does it cost for a pest control service?

Whether you need to get rid of bugs or rodents, pest removal professionals can be lifesaving when you have an infestation. Pest control prices will vary based on what type of pest is being removed. The national pest control price range is $80-$130, although prices can be much higher for tasks like wildlife removal (raccoons, bobcats, etc.), which might start at $250 and exceed $500, depending on the animal and the trapping measures required.

The cost of eliminating a termite colony ranges on average from $240 to $400, but these costs can increase greatly if the whole house is infested. The average cost to kill cockroaches is between $80 and $130, while bedbug extermination ranges from $320 to $400 on average. The main factors that will affect your pest control price are the type of pest, the extent of the infestation, the accessibility of the infested areas, and the type of treatment required.

How much does it cost to get rid of cockroaches?

Cockroaches are not only ugly, they are difficult to get rid of. Quick and resilient, they can be hard to get rid of without professional help once they have inhabited a house. Nationally, the average range for cockroach pest control cost is $80-$130. Extermination professionals typically provide a free estimate to determine the extent of the infestation. They’ll check for the main sources of the bugs, identify bug access and entry points into your home, and determine the best method for elimination. There are a variety of cockroach extermination tools including gel baits and traps, pesticide foggers, desiccants (which dry out the cockroaches), neurotoxins, and other pesticides. Pest control costs can also cover preventive measures like regular spraying and trap maintenance. Some regions of the country are much more prone to cockroach problems than others, so pest control costs may need to be part of your quarterly budget. Cockroaches love dark, humid, and warm areas and water sources, so place traps near your washer and dryer and under your sinks.

How much does it cost to treat a house for termites?

Termites are not only creepy-crawly, they can literally eat your house out from underneath you. Termites feed on damp and dry wood and can chomp through your house at an alarming rate. The national average pest control cost for termite extermination is $240-$400. Treatment costs can be higher for an extensive infestation. Here are some examples of average pest control costs for termites:

    • Liquid treatment of subterranean termites: $3-$4 per linear foot.
      • For $75 per year, a company may offer a maintenance plan that provides inspection of the property and renewal of the warranty.
    • Liquid treatment of subterranean termites: approximately $400 for a 2,000-square-foot home at $3-$5 per linear foot.
      • The price is higher for additional work such as foaming and drilling inside of concrete slabs.
    • Fumigation treatment of drywood termites: $1,200-$1,500 for a 30,000- to 35,000-cubic-foot home
      • Fumigation is measured in cubic feet because it fills the airspace of the home and infiltrates the wood that the termites may be colonizing. The cost of fumigation is affected by the number of levels in the home as well as the square footage.
