John Bertinetti helped me study for the GMAT exam over the summer of 2017 with concentrated sessions to review GMAT Quant. John got me started on a study path by sharing info about the best study resources for my problem areas, and would meet with me once or twice a week to go over key Quant problems that I needed help solving. John is an ideal tutor for students who are good at keeping themselves on track without a structured curriculum. Great value, flexible scheduling, and clear explanations of problems are all huge wins with him. About halfway through the summer, I realized that I needed a structured class and more discipline to keep myself on schedule, so I supplemented my study sessions with John with an independent online class with a live teacher. Key lessons w/John: John is all about understanding the concepts behind a problem before sharing tricks; his method is great for learners like me who need to understand the math conceptually and don't want to just memorize formulas. We did a lot of work on combinatorics and probability, which were my challenge areas. He was a great and affordable supplemental resource for me beyond the class. Results: I went from a 580 on my Manhattan GMAT diagnostic to a 730 score on the actual GMAT after 3 months of light study followed by 2 months of intense study.

Nicolas worked with my son on his high school math. My son was having a terrible time in his classes, and Nicolas acted as a guide and tutor though the years. He was very patient and understanding, and always arrived on time for the tutoring sessions. In the end, my son wound up with A's and B's in the classes, and was accepted to his first-choice college. Thanks, Nicolas!

Ellie tutored my daughter Jessica for several months for the writing and reading sections of the SAT. Jessica learned grammar and vocabulary that she had not been taught in high school and she learned speed reading with greater comprehension. As a bonus, Jessica felt her newly learned writing skills carried over to better grades in High School classes and improved her college application essays. Jessica really appreciated the opportunity to work with Ellie to gain the confidence to perform well on the SAT. As a result, Jessica earned a very high score on the SAT and was accepted to the University of California in San Diego. I highly recommend Ellie as a tutor for the SAT.

Mark tutored our daughter for SAT. He really broke down the topics and made them very easy to comprehend. It's thanks to him our daughter scored 2230 and that's 4 months after she scored 1900 the first time she took the test. Our daughter has ADHD and he made a great effort of making sure that our daughter was comfortable and wasn't getting too overwhelmed by the material. I highly recommend him

      About

Because we are small, we are able to offer a far more personalized approach than many large tutoring houses. Yet, we have the tools, training, and know-how of a large academic institution. For each student, we systematically work to identify problems, and then collaboratively create a plan to solve them using innovative curriculum design. Above all else, we are passionate about what we do! We care about genuine knowledge and understanding: we look beyond the numbers. We teach students to set their own goals, not merely jump through the hoops in front of them. We strongly believe that any student can succeed with the right combination of guidance, enthusiasm, and challenge.

      About

Laila’s appreciation and passion for learning and teaching came at an early age. Teaching Saturday playschool activities at the age of 12, she had her first TA position at her British Secondary school by 15, and began teaching English and Math through cartooning at 18. She is also academically excelled in that she began programming at 11, studied artificial intelligence at 16, 10 GCSE’s, 4 A’ Levels. A very extensive BA and double Masters (which she completed simultaneously in 2.5yrs with a GPA of 3.93) which are MBA in marketing and management and an MIT in Applications development, and several certifications. Currently she tutors and teaches over 63 subjects, high-stakes standardized tests and study skills. Her secret is her aggressive desire to learn and having a highly skilled memory system does provide a great tool. She uses visual cues, technological mediums and traditional learning methods in order to provide the best possible results. She works with students from K-12, undergrad, and grad, from different learning curves including those with ADD and dyslexia. I truly do believe that education is a vehicle to pursue success. I enjoy teaching and facilitating the learning process. There is something amazing that happens when you watch a student learn and achieve understanding and in turn reach a higher grade or pursue further education. I am young, well educated in a variety of subjects. I do research on topics prior to meeting with students and I have both online, one-on-one and group tutoring/ teaching experience. I make teaching an understanding not just -'you need to learn this because you have to'. I try my best to find how you can best learn and apply those methods that suit you. Everyone is different and deserves to learn the way that they can achieve the most out of and to excel. I like to think of myself as well rounded and having worn many different hats to teach myself to become as versatile and knowledgeable in as many areas as I could. This I have practiced in my professional career as a brand specialist and as a tutor. I have pursued an extensive degree in undergrad, 2 masters and several certifications as well as a 20 year history as a tutor.
