General Contracting
I found Brendt Finley Construction (BFC) online at Thumbtack as part of a first pass search for a general contractor for my home project. After obtaining 6 different estimates, Brendt was one of three that responded timely and requested to come out, discuss/review the job site and ultimately provide an estimate. He provided a clear and understandable overview of the construction requirements needed to accomplish the job without all the “required” extensive modifications the other contractors noted. The entire project was planned very diligently and conducted with great attention to the details; starting with preparation to the very final part, the clean up. Brendt patiently worked with the city of La Mesa’s building division to understand and obtain the required permits. He coordinated his schedule as well as that of his sub-contractors to maintain my tight timelines. He even worked closely with me on evaluating and coordinating an additional sub-contractor I selected to provide service for the project. I should also add that during the whole time, there was outstanding communication which afforded consensus on proposed changes by both parties. Based on the quality of the work and management of the overall project, I immediately requested another quote from BFC for another home improvement task before he could be booked again. Brendt was able to fit in my second project and finish to meet my schedule. Again, the quality of work and attention to detail came through. I would highly recommend BFC as the general contractor for your home project.

Patio Cover and Awning Services
We really enjoyed working with Bendt. He was easy going and yet highly personal and professional. Appreciated how well he listened to what we wanted and paid attention to details such that this structure looks like it’s always been a part of the property. You can see in the pictures how the roof color & the metal trim & the paint matched the house. It’s just perfect 👌

General Contracting
I found Brendt easy to work with. I had a great experience and would hire him again. He and I both preferred working off lists, which helped confirm at the beginning/end of each day what was expected. He's a 'straight shooter'; felt he was always honest and forthcoming about issues and progress updates. He was open to discussions, and made sure to really work with us to prevent unnecessary budget increases. He worked with me to problem solve, making sure we reviewed each of the solution options. I also I appreciated his willingness to answer questions and explain what he was doing, without ever making it seem he was talking down to me. He was always on time and would let me know the day before if his work schedule would need to change. I work from home and he was very considerate in trying to keep the noise contained as much as possible. Brendt was also very diligent to prep areas to minimize damage and dirt. And made sure to do some sort of clean up prior to leaving every day. Because of his ability to focus on the job and get it done, I had to intervene a couple of times to stop him and talk through what was being done, which helped prevent us from encountering future challenges. Although it all worked out, this is the only reason for not a full 5 stars. Overall, I really enjoyed working with him; easy to get along with, easy to talk to, I never felt intimidated asking questions, and I would hire him again and refer him to friends.

FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?Everyone has their price. There is always someone higher and there is always someone lower. I've typically been in the middle with my estimates over the years which is a good place to be. People tend to look at the high price as too much and the low price as possibly having reliability and quality issues.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer? This Thumbtack online quoting thing is a good idea in theory I guess. It is quite convenient for the consumer however, there is much to be said about meeting in person, discussing everything, and visually inspecting the job. It is difficult to accurately estimate a project with a brief description and a few pictures.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?No formal education or training. Everything I know I have attained doing it hands on for thirty years...far superior to anything taught in a textbook
