Angel and his crew made two pillars and four below-ground concrete pylons as footing for a 4-legged gazebo to straddle a circular pavilion in my backyard. His crew also poured a 7’ x 2’ concrete slab in our side yard to function as a grill parking spot. Angel had car trouble the first day, which delayed the start of work to two days later than we had agreed on. His crew spread the work over three evenings, delaying another crew's start date for assembly of the gazebo by two days. The posted rate for Angel's work was $45/hour. When the work was finished, Angel presented me with a bill that would have charged $40 an hour for each of his crew's 5 laborers. Angel may be an engineer worth $45 an hour, but someone digging a hole for concrete does not earn $40 an hour, so we renegotiated. Angel received $45/hour, and each of his workers earned $20/hour. We declined to pay for hours when multiple workers were present, but only one of them was working, since the others were just waiting for Angel to arrive. In addition to wages and materials, we paid $150 for gas. Angel would have spent less on gas, if the work had been concentrated into fewer days, which I would have preferred. The end result is: the anchors are level. The two front pillars have air pockets as large as 0.5" h x 2.5" in the sides, indicating the cement wasn’t packed down well. (I will use filler to get a smooth surface, after which paint will be necessary to hide the filler.) The work started late, was spread over too many days, and the concrete pillars should not have the air pockets they have. On the up side, I appreciated how clean the worksite was when Angel finished. He also gave me a few expert answers to questions I had about other potential concrete projects. Angel is polite and knowledgeable. Even so, it is important to be very specific with your timeline, cost expectations, and aesthetics up front.

Kitchen remodel and other repairs and improvements: After ordering a Home Depot Quartz countertop and backsplash we hired Anthony to take out the old tile countertop and tile backsplash. He replaced the drywall, sink, disposal and pipe. In the kitchen he added additional electrical outlets, replaced the ceiling light and installed a dimmer, installed under cabinet lighting and a timer for our outdoor pole light. Anthony is a hard worker, trustworthy, reliable, friendly, honest and affordable. He communicated well. He also replaced our rusty patio gutter and downspout and replaced clapboard, fascia and flashing as needed. He drained our water heater and installed a sediment filter for all incoming City water. We will use him again in the future and will recommend him to anyone.

My Husband and I had purchased a little over an acre of land in Fallbrook and hired WEST Construction to do the excavation work for our new home site. Despite the fact that our land was extremely rocky and had poor soil conditions, West was able to complete the project early! I was in the process of finalizing paperwork and looking for a contractor to install turf for our side and back yard when I was told that WEST also did turf. I was pleasantly surprised and immediately hired them for the job. We had a little over 2,300 SF of lawn turf installed and they had it completed in 3 days!!! I can’t give enough thanks to the guys in the field for all their hard work and professionalism. I would definitely hire WEST again. Thanks guys for your hard work!

None of us had any idea how tough of a job Eric had in front of him. He worked 4 hours on the Saturday of the holiday weekend and from 9 to 5 Sunday. He stopped rarely to take a very quick break. They guy worked his butt off. He had give us an initial quote. We told him we would give him an extra 100.00 if he came right away and then after the job he did we gave him additional on $$ on top of that. It was a tough, dusty job and we are so grateful for his help. He really did save the day! It had to be done so the contractors could start on Tuesday. Thanks Eric

The guys were extremely polite and took extra care in making sure that my landscaping was protected as well as they were very good about containing construction debris to the work area. Also, they left the place cleaner than I imagined it could be. Highly recommended!

Robert and his company did the electrical for our hotel in Benicia. He is great! Both he and his crew are always friendly polite and courteous to the guests and staff members. Whenever we have had a problem or needed different lights installed they have come in right away and taken care of what needs to get done. He always has good ideas on how and where different lights should go. Brooks Electrical has been a great company to work with!

Jim & his crew @ Aspen, landscaped our backyard. We had them do concrete, electrical, sod, sprinklers, waterfall & pond. They did a beautiful job, we couldn't be happier! We loved that Jim (owner) was on scene everyday. If we ever have ?'s with plants or anything else, he never hesitates to answer over the phone or he'll just swing by our home. Very nice man, we highly recommend Jim & his crew.
