FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
I price most projects as a fixed fee once we define the scope, so you know your design and permit documentation costs up front. For small consultations or very limited help, I work on an hourly basis $150/hr. I charge a initial nominal project consultation and site visit fee ($150) and if you move forward with the project, that amount is credited toward your design fee. Engineering (MEP, structural), permit fees, and agency fees are billed separately.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
First, we start with a short phone call to understand your goals, timing, and budget. Next, I usually schedule a site visit to review existing conditions and talk through options in person. From there I provide a written proposal with scope, fee, and a rough timeline. Once you approve it, I document existing conditions, develop design options, then prepare permit-ready drawings and coordinate with the City and your contractor through plan review and into construction as needed.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I am a California-licensed architect with over 25 years of experience in architecture and design. I’ve worked extensively with local building departments in the Bay Area and have served on the Planning Commission in City of Sunnyvale, so I understand both the design side and the planning approval process. I also hold the LEED AP credential, which reflects training in sustainable and energy-conscious design.
