Introduction: Alright alright My name is Matt Mickey. I have a passion for health, training, and service with a Bachelors in Exercise Science. The American College of Sports Medicine, Gray Cook and the FMS signed a few papers for me. My promise to you is any age, at any stage, it doesn't matter to me - I will meet you where you are and help take you where you want to go. Period. My mission is to help keep people moving often, out of pain, and engaging a healthy, active lifestyle that we were born to live. I do business first via a series of intake questions, evaluations and then a movement screening. I use that information to build an individual client profile. With that profile I build custom training programs designed specifically to your needs goals and current abilities, attacking everything from muscular imbalances, postural and motor control, stability, strength and conditioning and weight loss. This approach of First correcting dysfunctional patterns while strengthening deficient patterns leads to successful pain free movement, weight loss, proper strength development and optimal athletic performance.

It became very clear to me from our first session that Matt is a top-tier trainer. As a former collegiate athlete, I connected with Matt’s methodical and educational approach to strength training and coaching. Matt really worked to help me understand the motions he was teaching me from the perspective of the particular muscle or muscle group we were working on during each session. Matt helped me learn the vocabulary necessary to isolate muscles and understand how to most effectively and efficiently use my time in the gym. Matt taught me about progressive overload and helped me integrate that principle into all aspects of our training plan to help me build strength and reach my goal of gaining and sustaining lean muscle. Matt isn’t gonna sugar coat it - building strength is hard work, and you have to put that work in. With Matt’s guidance, though, entering the world of fitness was a lot less daunting. Matt truly works to set his clients up for success when working toward their fitness goals. I’m extremely pleased with both the education I received and the results I’ve seen from working with Matt.

Training with Matt has been the best and most rewarding experience. He is not a “one size fits all trainer.” I came to Matt with a very specific training goal that required flexibility and a unique plan of action. Matt put together a regiment tailored to my goals that few other trainers would have the competency and knowledge to do. Additionally, Matt and MCM Performance provides value from an educational standpoint that I have never received with any other trainer. Learning why I am doing the movements and lifts is just as important as actually doing them. It creates a foundation for understanding my body and what I can be doing to perform better moving forward.

Over the last six years, Matt has helped me achieve every goal I have set. We have trained for triathlons, obstacle course racing, body transformation challenges, and more. He comes up with a creative plan for our workouts and is intelligent with how the plan is implemented. He will show you what your body is capable of and I promise you will leave every time seeing yourself in a a stronger, more positive light. I cannot thank Matt enough for that and I cannot wait to see what we do next.

  • How did you get started doing this type of work?

    My father taught me to lift weights in the 7th grade and I fell in love. I went to college and studied Exercise Science. I stepped away from training shortly after college only to realize it is what I've always loved and have been so passionate about from the beginning.
