Of all the trainers I have spoken with prior to making an appointment, Dave really impressed me with his knowledge and sincerity. Soju, my Great Dane, suffers from isolation distress and in just two meetings with Dave, we worked out a comprehensive plan. So far, we have seen TONS of improvement and overall Soju has become a lot more confident and independent. If you are a worrisome owner like me, I would highly recommend Dave to help you manage your pet's separation anxiety / isolation distress.

Details: 1 dog • 2 - 10 years old • Extra large (70+ lbs) • Private dog training lessons • General obedience training • I travel to the dog trainer • The dog trainer travels to me

I hired 3 dog trainers, pre COVID shut down, that had no clue what I wanted from a trainer. I am so incredibly grateful to have found Every Dog. Dave is exceptional. from the first day my Border Collie started responding to the training Dave worked with her and the home work he gave us and by the 3rd visit it was not short of miraculous! I would highly recommend Dave at Every Dog to anyone that needs help with a fearful dog or any dog that has training issues. 5 star and above!

Details: 1 - 2 years old • Medium (26 - 40 lbs) • Private lessons • Aggressive behavior modification • Leash pulling • Barking • Biting • My home, venue, etc.

I first consulted with the owner Dave via e mail. I found him to be very knowledgeable, experienced and aware of dog behavior and training. He was patient and understanding about how to deal with our dog's problem behavior. We next had Dave come to our home for one-on-one training with our dog Larry. The results were awesome! We found Dave to be passionate and empathetic about helping dogs and their owners live together in a way that makes all of us happy! We highly recommend Dave and the EveryDog team for your pet's training and special needs!

He loved to hear himself speak and only offered articles for me to read. Waste of time.

EveryDog - Orange County's reply
As someone who deeply cares about each and and every client/dog I work with, this is really disheartening. We had a consult all the way back in August, in which I took well over an hour taking a detailed history of Nikki and then trying to explain why Nikki has been reactive, and how we can modify her behavior with a desensitization/counter-conditioning protocol (so, yes, there was a fair amount of me talking). Yes, the follow-up had a list of articles, as well as potential things to get that could help Nikki not only with her reactivity but also her stimulation needs, as you had mentioned she wasn't getting a lot of exercise. I'm a big believer in giving every client information, so that can supplement the actual training. I never heard from you until now - almost 4 months later. I'm sorry if I wasted your time. It's never my intention to waste anyone's time nor money. I truly cared about improving Nikki's situation, but I think you were looking for a different philosophy, and that's totally OK. It's just disappointing to get a review like this and I hope the body of work I've created not only here on Thumbtack, but on our Yelp pages in LA and OC, paint the bigger picture for those reading. I still hope you got the help you needed for Nikki. Respectfully, Dave

FAQs

  • How did you get started doing this type of work?

“Rocky was the typical Pit Bull-mix you see at shelters everywhere. I adopted him at 7 months old. He was diagnosed with cancer in 2005 and lived a miraculous 2 years and 8 months after diagnosis. It was his will to live that changed my life forever. Seeing how hard one dog will fight for his life made me realize that no dog should be seen as disposable. No matter the issue, every single dog has a path to rehabilitation.” - Dave Dreyfus, Founder, EveryDog EveryDog's ultimate goal is to have a non-profit clinic where pet parents can bring their pet with cancer or other long-term illnesses and get the care they need, regardless of financial constraints.

  • What types of customers have you worked with?

Dog training, dog walking, and pet sitting.

  • What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

Make sure you do your homework when choosing a dog trainer or dog walker. Schooling, credentials, and philosophy matter greatly, and you MUST feel comfortable and TRUST whomever you are entrusting your dog with.
