Gabriel and his team are amazing! He is super responsive and always addressed any questions that we had. We hired him to stain our house and after seeing the great quality of work we hired him to do more around our house. He helped with pavers, sealing our driveway, interior painting, cleaning our roof, painting skylights, and a dump run. We couldn’t be happier. Our house looks amazing! He is a really nice guy and we are so glad that we met him. We will definitely keep his number handy.

Shane and Craig are exceptional. They worked very quickly and did quality work. While doing the work they sent pics of things they had questions about and offered suggestions for resolving issues cost effectively. Once I was able to look at the house after they finished, if I hadn't hired them, I wouldn't they were even there, Other than every was working!! They are professionals from beginning to end. Highly recommend this team!! I have additional properties/projects they will be working on...very happy.

John recently did some work at my home. He replaced some wood rot under my floor and did any excellent job replacing the wood and then matching up the linoleum. you can't even tell that it had been torn up and replaced. His work is meticulous and he is very tidy and cleaned up when finished with job. He also did some painting and repaired a gate that had come loose from a concrete wall. I would recommend him without reservation. He is very professional and knowledgeable. He's got 30 years plus of experience so knows what he's doing. Oh yes, his rates are reasonable too.

I hired Clint St. Martin for several large projects. His company painted our house before we launched into a major remodel of 70% of our living space. He came back and painted all our new interior rooms and stained all wood doors. He topped all this off with a fantastic Venetian plaster wall in our entry space. All jobs met our schedule, budget and scope of work. I would call first for any of my painting needs and more.

When searching for a company to paint the outside of my house, I received several bids. I chose JD-Coatings and I'm very glad I did! They started the job when they said they would and cleaned up all the debris at the end of each day. My plants were covered and no paint residue was found on the cement, windows, or doors. I have referred them to some friends of mine and they were just as happy with the outcome. If you're looking for someone to paint your house I would recommend JD-Coatings.

Joe has assisted me with a variety of jobs around the house and is always professional, friendly and extremely dedicated to whatever he is working on. I had one situation where water was not draining from a deck drain, causing damage and water to pool. We figured it was going to be an involved fix. Joe did some investigating and the previous contractor simply failed to remove the plug on the drain which was burred under ground. So, other than the damaged caused by this mistake, the drain was an easy fix and I would have never thought to dig and check on this. There were several other small projects and all handled with expertise. I would recommend and use Joe's services anytime.

Recently had SD Services paint the entire interior of our home. 5-Stars 1) Gave fixed bid estimate for work that included review of design options 2) Showed up on time 3) Busted it out and were done in 1 day (came back in the AM for clean up and touch ups as it was hard to see everything until paint dries) 4) Awesome work. Like a brand new home. 5) Great attitude when I slightly increased the project scope in mid project.

        Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

        How much do painters cost?

The national average cost for an interior painter ranges between $450 and $900. Interior painters can tackle everything from complete color makeovers in each of your rooms to touching up an accent wall to painting pieces of furniture. The square footage and complexity of the project, along with the materials needed, are the main factors that will affect cost. Other factors include whether you supply the paint yourself or want the painter to do so, whether you move the furniture and do the prep work or ask them to do it, and whether any repair work is needed on the walls. Painting the ceiling and the trim will also have an effect on cost. The type of paint you choose can also raise or lower your house painting cost. A gallon of paint may range from $20 to over $100, depending on quality and brand. Ask your painter if they charge per hour or per square foot, and how much you can save by doing prep work (moving furniture, etc.) yourself.

How much does it cost to paint the interior of a house?

Interior house painting costs are calculated on a few key factors. Nationally, interior house painting projects range from $200 to $2,500. The wide price range indicates how much square footage, paint selection and labor can affect cost. One pro uses a laser to measure each room, subtracting the size of the doors and windows, and then bases the quote on the square footage of the actual surfaces to be painted. Painters may provide you with savings if you opt to paint your entire home rather than just having one room or an accent wall painted. For example, the average house painting cost for an 8x12 room with 8-foot ceilings is roughly $200, when contractor-grade paint is used. Painting ceilings, baseboards and frames can also affect cost. Pros may charge per linear foot to smooth and paint baseboards. In one area pros might charge 50 cents per linear foot to paint baseboards, while pros in another part of the country could charge $1.50 per linear foot for the same task. Painters may charge flat rates for painting door and window frames, with one charging $20-$25 and another $60 per door. Geography and regional costs to do business play a major role in the cost of interior painting. The same painter in a rural region has less to pay in taxes, transportation, insurance and overhead than they would in a major city like New York.

How much does a painter charge per room?

The cost to paint a room will vary based on the size of the room, the type of paint you select, any ceiling or trim work needed, and any repairs needed. If no repairs or other additional work is needed, painting a room with contractor-grade paint could range from $1 to $2 per square foot, including materials. Selecting a luxury paint (some cost more than $100 per gallon) will certainly increase your house painting costs. Here are some additional examples of average house painting costs, per room:

        • 12x12 room with a 9-foot ceiling: about $125
        • 12x12 room with an 8-foot ceiling: about $100
        • 14x16 master bedroom with a 9-foot ceiling: about $150
        • 14x16 master bedroom with an 8-foot ceiling: about $125
        • 16x16 living room with a 9-foot ceiling: about $175
        • 16x16 living room with a 20-foot ceiling: starting at $225
