Kyle goes above and beyond with the piano lessons. Every lesson my daughter and Kyle go over rhythms, note reading, finger exercises, ear training, improvisation and the songs that she is currently learning. I feel like she is getting a very well rounded and detailed music education. He always keeps my husband and me informed. We are not musicians so Kyle lets us know what he is teaching our daughter and the reason for it. He is quick to respond if we have questions and does his best to be accommodating if/when our schedule changes. Not to mention that he is just a likable person. Highly recommended!Jun 13, 2020VerifiedKyle Tarrats | Free Trial Lesson!'s reply
Thanks for the review Sophia. Isabella is doing a wonderful job. It is important to spend time working on a bit of everything. If someone is only reading and playing songs then that will limit them as a musician. It's crucial to do improvisation and ear training as well, even if it is only a little.
Kyle's private online piano lessons are great. He works well with my 13 year old and I can see and hear her steadily improving.Jul 20, 2020VerifiedKyle Tarrats | Free Trial Lesson!'s reply
Thanks for review Jacob! Your daughter is doing an awesome job.
The piano lessons are fantastic. My daughter (16) had 4 years of private lessons prior to starting with Kyle. She enjoyed the lessons and would kind of practice, but with Kyle she loves the piano lessons and has been practicing more than ever. Her previous teacher just kept giving her songs to learn but Kyle is making sure that she picks songs that she WANTS to learn. He encourages her to find the sheet music for the whatever songs she wants and they go through the music together. Kyle then gives her advice on what she can do differently or shows her how to play difficult sections.May 13, 2020VerifiedKyle Tarrats | Free Trial Lesson!'s reply
Thanks Heather! One of the most important things a music teacher can do is give the student music that they want to learn. Once my reach a certain level, I always want them to pick music that they want. With the technology these days, there are so many different places and ways to find arrangements of any kind of song that there is no reason for teachers to only give students books or classic repertoire. My ultimate goal is to instill a love for music and piano that will last a lifetime. Thanks again.
Kyle is very sharp in understanding the strengths and weakness of the kids. His teaching style is personalized to the need of the student. My 8 year old loves the lessons. He makes it fun and at the same time makes sure that the student remains focused. He is very encouraging. He gives me regular feedback on how my son is doing. He is quick to respond to any questions and is also accommodating if we need to change the schedule. We take online lessons but they are as good as in person lessons. We are very happy that we decided to go with Kyle for piano lessons.Jul 16, 2020VerifiedKyle Tarrats | Free Trial Lesson!'s reply
Thank you for taking the time to write a review Khushboo! I always love hearing that my students are enjoying their lessons; it puts a smile on my face. Your son is doing a great job and I enjoy working with him. One of my favorite aspects of working with kids is being able to joke around with them and act like a goofball but it is very important to make sure that they can focus when they need to. Thanks again for the review, I appreciate all the kind words Khushboo.
Both my kids 7 and 9 love their piano lessons with Kyle. He is just one of those people that kids love. He is able to get them to laugh one minute and make sure they're focused the next. Kyle is always prepared for their lessons. He lets me know how they're doing and what they're working on. He is always available during the week if they are having trouble with a part in the song and have a question. My kids are getting better and better but most of all, they are enjoying it.May 26, 2020VerifiedKyle Tarrats | Free Trial Lesson!'s reply
Thank you for the review Yanique! I love working with kids and they respond much better to a teacher that is able to be goofy/funny as well as serious when necessary. Every positive experience a kid has while learning piano will only help to make it a lifelong activity instead of just something they do for a few years in their youth.
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?First lesson is free! $35 for a half hour lesson, $45 for forty-five minutes and $60 for an hour.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer? If the student is new to music/piano, we jump right into learning. If the student has studied piano before, I figure out where they are and what they know about music. I check their rhythm, pitch reading, sight reading, musical terms, familiarity with the piano and I ask them to play something for me. We talk about what music the student likes and what they would like to learn from lessons. After gathering this information, I begin to plan out a direction that the lessons will take.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?I've had years of private lessons with local teachers as well as university professors. I have taken college music theory and ear training courses and been the accompanist for numerous choirs, both youth and professional.
