I got ripped off. which is baffling as I have used Pacific Drain & Plumbing previously on several occasions.A Kitchen Disposal had to be replaced. It was not possible to get a quote over the phone, so we had to wait several days with a leaking sink to discover the cost to replace my horsepower Disposal.Pacific Drain & Plumbing quoted a cost of $640!!A breakdown of these unprecedented costs was requested from several people within their company and denied by everyone at Pacific Drain.According to Pacific Drain, it is the same flat fee for anyone and everyone. We just push a button, and this is the cost which comes up in our system. 2 years ago, it was $450. An increase of nearly 50%!I was told by their installer, Felipe, that the replacement Disposal costs approximately $200. Not thinking that this company with which I have done business several times over the years would lie and/or mispresent, I accepted their statement as true. which means that they were charging $440 to remove an old Disposal and install the new one. I chatted with several persons at Pacific Drain. They were all quite charming, but also adamant that the pricing was fair and consistent with industry practice.It took only 40 minutes to install the new Disposal despite their estimate that it would take 1 to 2 hours.If you add a bit of chat on both sides of the actual installation, their representative was at my home for slightly less than an hour.SoParts -$200Labor -$440 for one hourExceptIf one goes to Ace Hardware or Home Depot, the actual Disposal costs vary from $105 to $134.The discourse with their several representatives was pleasant, but pointless and in the end, they offered to take $50 off the total bill as a gesture of good faith.The ACTUAL final cost with Pacific Drain & Plumbing:Parts - $105Labor -$485 for ONE hourTOTAL - $590You can be the judge, but this seems unreasonable and extortionate.
