About
I have a true passion for what I do and I believe it comes through in the way I train. I know dog... From the shyest to the most aggressive, they respond favorably to me. But also, I am a people person. The key to reaching our goals is that the dogs' owners have the ability to replicate my interactions with the dog in order to maintain the results they desire. That's were my 24/7 support comes in. I say It all the time....I Love seeing a dog "blossom" ...It's so rewarding seeing the process of a dog shedding it's negative challenges, gaining confidence, and becoming the pup it was intended to be.

We cannot recommend Todd enough! He is fabulous! We found Todd when looking for a trainer to help us with our rowdy 7-month-old lab Rudy. Todd was able to teach Rudy to stop jumping up on the counter in just one session! Rudy is now such a better walker and has learned to not pull. We wish we had found Todd sooner! Todd is great to work with and genuinely cares about the animals he trains. He even bought Rudy a Christmas toy which was so nice! Rudy was always so happy to see him at our door. We moved to the east coast in February and Rudy still is missing his training sessions with Todd.

We're working with Todd to reinforce training with our adopted german shepherd puppy Zoey and to help her - and us - work with her anxiety issues. Immediately, Zoey took to Todd, and we could see that Todd really understood her - both as the breed and an individual puppy. Todd has given us some really helpful tips to practice after our training sessions, and we have noticed great improvements in Zoey! Todd is amazing! We call him the dog whisperer - it's truly wonderful to see how he connects with Zoey and his insights are invaluable. If you need someone who is caring, knows what he's doing, respects your puppy, and responds quickly to your emails/calls/texts, Todd is your person.

Todd was fantastic! We found him on Thumbtack within weeks of getting our new puppy. We were having major troubles with potty training and Todd was kind and thoughtful in providing advice and proposing a good schedule for training. When our puppy hit ~17 weeks, he spent two weeks doing board and train with Todd. I would strongly recommend this to anyone dealing with a puppy (or a dog who needs training too). Todd has a great philosophy of working with the dog and not against him. He immediately had a solid understanding of our puppy, including really amazing insights into what was scaring/unsettling him. He sent frequent detailed emails and photos/videos telling us about the dog's progress and what he still needed to work on, and our sweet puppy emerged from Todd's place responding to some commands, walking reliably on a leash, able to interact with other dogs without freaking out, and much improved on biting and potty training, etc. He also finally responds to "no," so even his remaining bad habits will hopefully subside soon. Bottom line: when you leave your sweet puppy with a stranger for two weeks, trust is key, and we immediately felt comfortable with Todd. He and his wife treated our puppy like their own, and we will definitely be keeping him on speed-dial in the future!

Thank you Katie! Wow! What a statement: ... Trust IS key. For me, It's all about the dog. If we don't have the pup trusting in the process what we are trying to teach really doesn't matter. And knowing the owners of the pup are comfortable and also trusting in what we are doing is so important. Challenge the dog in a way that is positive, enjoyable, & lasting...that's a recipe for long term success. You guys have done such good work with him! You are great role models for canine parents everywhere. Keep up the great work!

I found Todd on Thumbtack as I was looking for a private trainer for my 8 months old Golden Retriever puppy. As with all puppies, there are a lot of work to be done, and I wanted to address that early on. Todd helped correct some behavioral issues that I was experiencing with Shelby, such as anxiety, barking at stragglers, pulling on leash, chasing objects etc, and immediately we saw results within our first few sessions. Shelby is still a work in progress, but with Todd's help, we're improving every week and we were able to set some realistic expectations. Todd is very attentive, friendly, and Shelby loves him! Awesome services, I'd highly recommend!

Todd has been helping us train Thor, our miniature Siberian husky. Thor took to Todd immediately. And is very responsive to Todd's training techniques. He's a stubborn puppy and a lot of work, and we would probably be in a very different place with him if we had not gotten Todd's help. Todd also offered to board and train Thor for two weeks while we are on our honeymoon. This feels like a pretty big commitment from him, given Thor's energy level. We're grateful that Thor will be with familiar faces in a wonderful setting, and look forward to seeing his progress when we return!

FAQs

  • What types of customers have you worked with?

Most of the time people misinterpret dog behavior because it's our nature to view them through human eyes. So it makes it imperative for me to actually see the dog before I can diagnose the problem. I've been called in before for two puppies being aggressive when they were just playing and wrestling. And most of my behavior solutions are counter intuitive to what we do with other humans, but that's because I'm teaching them to "listen" to what the dog is saying.

  • What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

    A. Make sure you are comfortable with the training method the trainer uses and that they have a firm grasp of canine behavior. If they misread a dog's body language, they could prescribe the wrong plan of action for you & your dog(s). Also, if you aren't comfortable with the trainer & his methods, you won't follow through & consistency is necessary for success with your dog(s)!
