License Type: Tax Preparer (CTEC) (CA)
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?Pricing is based on complexity. The base price for tax preparation includes a federal return with forms 1040 and Schedule A, and 1 state return. Additional forms or schedules may increase the price depending on how complex the calculations are for that form. I also expect that clients will have completed the tabulation and compiling of all of their numbers, expenses, deductions, etc. I will charge a reasonable fee for bookkeeping work if I have to do it in order to complete the client's taxes.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?First, I like to have a conversation with the client about their tax history and any particular issues that concern them. I like to review the most recent return as a part of that discussion. Next, I will give the client an estimate of the fee, but reserve the right to adjust the fee is subsequent issues or undisclosed facts change the complexity or the amount of work. The client will sign an engagement letter and then provide their tax documents to me either in person or via a secure encrypted online portal. I do not process tax returns while a client waits. Most returns are done in 3 to 5 business days depending on complexity.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?I have been registered to prepare tax returns under the CTEC since 2009. I hold a masters of business administration from Cal State East Bay and a law degree from John F. Kennedy University, College of Law. In addition, I am a licensed Registered Investment Advisor in the states of CA and TX. I receive over 20 hours of tax education each year.
