Introduction: I focus on teaching healthy singing for all ages. My students learn songs in all styles and genres of music. I like exposing them to all different kinds of music from Broadway and Classical to Carrie Underwood and Taylor Swift. Every 4 months or so each student receives a CD with all of their songs (either 6 or 7) on it including the melody line and accompaniment. This CD is great for practicing their music, auditioning for shows, and for performing for their families. I love watching my students learn and grow in confidence- not only in their singing abilities but also in themselves. It is great to see them master the vocal techniques we work on together.

I have been taking voice lessons with Courtney for 3 years now. and highly recommend her to anyone thinking of learning to sing better. She has taken me from me from having a totally untrained voice to having one that I enjoy as well as others -- and it is continuing to grow. Courtney tailors her lessons to my goals and abilities. We started with the basics and have continued peeling the onion back getting into more technique and more complicated pieces as my abilities grow. She has a very positive and supportive style while setting expectations and giving feedback. The music that I sing is contemporary; I choose half of the songs and Courtney chooses the others to teach me new techniques and skills. Courtney makes singing fun!

I began taking voice lessons from Courtney Bowles during my freshman year of high school and continued our weekly lessons until I moved away for college this year. During those four years, thanks to my experiences with Courtney, I not only grew exponentially as a vocalist but also as a person. Courtneys encouraging and funny personality breaks down any walls of intimidation and that provides an honest and collaborative learning environment. Courtney taught me how to sing correctly while embracing my own unique voice and always continues to emphasize the importance of singing for longevity. Students will leave their lessons with a better understanding of how to sing without damaging their voices so they can enjoy singing for the rest of their lives. One of the Courtneys best qualities is that she is willing to work with many different styles of vocalists and teaches a repertoire of music ranging from opera to current pop hits. She is always honest and took the time to explain corrections to me until I fully understood what she was saying and could apply it to my songs. I have been taking vocal lessons with Courtney for just over three years. In that time I have learned vocal techniques that have helped my voice develope in a healthy way. The change is HUGE compared to my first year with Courtney. She's helped me expand my range and we've experimented with many genres of music, keeping everything new and fun. She pushes me to put my highest quality voice in everything I sing, and works me hard to make the tougher parts of my range sound full and effortless. What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
My lessons are broken down into 45 minutes and 1 hour times. 45 minutes = $50.00 1 hour = $60.00 Every 4 months there is an extra charge for the CD I provide including the melody lines and accompaniments. Each CD has 6 songs on it. CD = $40.00
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have 15 years of professional lessons including a Bachelor's Degree in Vocal Performance from San Diego State University. I have also been teaching private lessons since 2006 and enjoy helping my students enhance their talent and improve their vocal skills and stage presence.
How did you get started doing this type of work?
I have been singing my whole life. I have been very fortunate to have had wonderful teachers, myself. All my teachers challenged me in every lesson to keep growing as a singer. Once I finished school I realized that performing wasn't my only passion; I wanted to inspire singers to learn and grow like my teachers had done for me.
