We asked Nick to come do a few odd jobs around the house--fixing a power strip that had seemed dead, fixing an outside light that seemed to have died, fixing some loose cabinets. These jobs were each fairly different, but Nick easily handled all three. He also showed up on time was friendly, responsive, and professional; and charged reasonable rates. Strongly recommend!

Renato arrived at our new house today to fix several doors that didnt close correctly - on time might i add - and just totally exceeded our expectations" Thank you, Renato! He not only fixed every stubborn door in our house - from closet and bathroom doors to the garage door, and even the poorly hung front door - but he did it fast and with obvious skill. He even worked later then we agreed upon on a Saturday and installed two doggie doors. Renato is very professional, knowledgable, and just a downright very nice guy. I highly recommend him for anything you may need fixed, and we will be calling him in the future for our repair needs as they arise. Cheers, Renato!

I had a challenging renovation project to trim out some doors and windows because every surface was irregular. After reviewing work from many general carpenters, it was clear these guys had real finish carpentry skills. For each window and door, they took the time to figure out the best way to approach and then did super high quality work and now everything looks great. Pricing was also very competitive. Hoping to use Barsesat for a cabinet project in the near future.

I needed to have the outside railing rebuild and some tile flooring repaired. Jay was very flexible and completed other projects, such as refinishing cabinets. He and his co-worker did an excellent job and were very respectful and trustworthy. I highly recommend him. Alice

Steve and I had a bit of trouble connecting at first, but once we got together he was awesome! He's a very smart and approachable guy and he did a great job on the remake of an old cabinet. He came up with an idea that neither myself nor my kitchen manager had thought of and completed the work in less than a day. Thanks Steve, we will reach out again soon for anything that requires your expertise!

HIGHLY RECOMMENDED. My wife and I have hired Chris and his team on half a dozen occasions and have always been more than pleased with their work. From laying down new wood flooring, to painting, to installing new cabinets, to hiding existing ducting (we have a really old house) to replacing fencing, Chris has always finished the work on time and met our expectations. Chris always provides good suggestions ton our projects and has great attention to detail. Clean, on time, competent, I only wish every company thats for hire was like Chris and his team!

Dan helped to install and customize kitchen cabinets I’d ordered from somewhere else. There were several issues with the cabinets that he helped me address, not sure how I would have completed my kitchen without him. He designed, built and installed custom paneling on the back of my kitchen island, crown molding, and floating shelves.

    Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

    Do you tip cabinet installers?

In general, home service providers such as electricians, plumbers and contractors are professionals who don’t expect tips. They expect to do a job for you for the specific price they quoted. Of course, they may appreciate a tip for a job particularly well done or for which they’ve gone beyond what’s normally expected, such as completing the project early or under budget. Even better than a tip, it’s always appropriate to leave a positive review online after a good experience.

    How much is custom cabinetry?

Custom cabinets can be built for any room, including bedroom closets and built-in armoires. Measured carefully and built precisely, custom cabinetry can increase storage and beautify any room. The national average for building custom cabinets ranges from $500 to $1,200 per linear foot. The cost is highly variable because there are so many styles, colors, glazes and other options. In general, the linear footage of the cabinets, the materials used to build them, and the cost of the labor will determine the cost. Solid wood costs more than plywood and wood veneer, and costs vary among different types of wood; maple and cherry cabinets are more expensive than pine. Glass-front cabinets can cost more, as can decorative hinges, handles and door pulls, which can cost $2-$45 each; choose carefully to stay within your budget and pull off the exact look you’re going for. Some carpenters also charge for installation, on average $100 per cabinet box. Additional molding and trim, such as crown molding at the ceiling, cost an average of $70 per 8-foot section, and adding finished ends to exposed cabinets averages $100-$200.

How much does it cost to have kitchen cabinets installed?

In any kitchen, the cabinets are the main focus, so you want to make sure new or replacement cabinets are installed correctly. A professional carpenter can properly, securely mount new cabinets to the wall; the national average cost for this service is $7,725, although the cost varies widely depending on the type of cabinets, their material and their size, and the accessories you add. A typical fee is $70 per linear foot to remove existing cabinets and assemble and install new ones; the cost is less if you do the demolition and removal yourself. Stock cabinets are the least expensive to have installed, ranging from $75 to $400 each; semi-custom cabinets range from $150 to $900 each; and custom cabinets cost from $500 to $1,400 each. Wood cabinets are more expensive than those made from plywood or medium-density fiberboard (MDF) and finished with a laminate. Wood cabinets range in cost from $80 to $160 per linear foot. Laminate-finished cabinets cost $35 to $75 per linear foot, on average.
