FAQs
- What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?
A multimedia producer should be able to speak back your story, and improve on it in some way after talking with you for 15 minutes. At the same time, you should be looking for someone who is willing to tell you that part of your project is either not feasible, or will ultimately distract from your goals.
- What questions should customers think through before talking to professionals about their project?
From the outside, multimedia production looks like the secret is in knowing the software and how to work a camera, but that's all secondary to knowing how to tell a good story. When you look at pricing remember that your instinct to say "well, my nephew has a DSLR and a Mac, why am I paying this guy so much?" is on one level valid: anyone can learn a camera and editing software. But it takes time, experience, and talent to be able to quickly and consistently understand a client's needs and come back with a product that exceeds them.
