FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
My price always depends on the number of hours I estimate to complete your assignment. Typically for logos $100 or as low as $50. For editing and original writing $25 per hour with a firm estimate. For travel, 0.50 per mile round trip if necessary to provide your work,[to do photography, on-site recording, etc.] NOT to simply meet you to plan the job. Photography, $25 pr. hour on-site. Client must approve any cost over initial quote before it is incurred. For hardship cases I've been known to provide services "pro-bono". However, most folks don't want that.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
Thumbtack notifies me of the potential client's need. I write a brief, explanatory offer with my phone, e-mail addresses and it is e-mailed to the client with the invitation to contact me about the assignment. I ask the questions necessary to clarify the assignment and offer my guarantee of satisfaction. Then I create the FIRST DRAFT and e-mail it or take it to the client who makes edits. I apply the edits, we visit by phone/e-mail regarding any further details until the assignment meets the client's satisfaction. No assignment is complete until the client is totally satisfied with the work. For LOGO designs I always offer to create letterhead, envelope and busness card art to take to a printer at no extra charge. My fee is paid. We exchange thank-you's. If I've met your expectations I'll ask for a short "testimonial" so others will feel reassured of my abilities.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
Nearly 30 years running my own church capital fund-raising firm, working coast to coast, writing hundreds of pre-campaign studies and as many campaign plans, countless letters, advertisements and documents, writing contracts and manuals qualifies as sufficient writing skills. Designing hundreds of brochures, even more logos, stationery, creating many Powerpoint presentations, and 14 years as a radio broadcaster prepares me well for similar work. I've mastered a number of useful Windows computer programs. My office is as current as most: Internet cable, Skype, wifi printer, back up printer, Android tablet, cell phone, webcam, additional hard drive, etc., and a host of personal, professional friends(university professors, photographer, physicist, clergy) who know what I might not.
