Introduction: You are about to make the biggest investment of your life, putting down a lot of money for your new home. When shopping around for home inspectors, do you really want the person who charges $99 and spends 45 minutes at the inspection? The cheapest option may not be the best option. A tiny fraction of your home's price should go to your peace of mind. I have a personality that takes care of rental cars, imagine how I'll take care of your future home. I thoroughly enjoy inspecting homes! Every home is unique and it is interesting to see how components were installed in the different floor plans. It's as if I'm on a scavenger hunt every time I'm doing an inspection, only instead of Easter Eggs I'm looking for correct (or INcorrect) installation of items.

I recently purchased a home. I contacted Kevin at FYI Home Inspections to do the inspection. He was prompt in returning my call and time was no issue, if I had asked to do it at 9:00 pm I believe he would have done it no questions asked, I could tell he was focused on the customer. He was on time and very thorough with the inspection. He didn't assume with anything, even if it meant a few minutes extra work, he did it anyway. Crawling around in the attic, roof etc. He was all over that house. Very professional and focused on the job, and took the time to explain things if I had questions. Great job! I would recommend FYI to anyone. Allen

My wife and I are first time home buyers, so we're new to the process and nervous. We chose to use Kevin based on his reputation and reviews online. We met him at the house along with our Realtor. He was on time, explained to us what he would be looking for and then got right to work. He would stop occasionally to explain to us something he found and see if we had questions. After he was all done he said he would have the report to us the following day and he was right on time! Would definitely use Kevin again!

FAQs

  • What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

I am required by the National Association of Certified Home Inspectors to complete 24 hours of continuing education each year. Though with the wealth of knowledge continually added to their pool of information it is quite easy to exceed that number simply learning about new techniques or things to keep an eye out for.

  • What questions should customers think through before talking to professionals about their project?

Home Inspectors are Jack-of-all-trades types. In our professions we learn about every aspect of a home's construction and it's major components. A roofer knows roofs, and a contractor knows how to build a wall. Home Inspectors need a foundational base of knowledge on everything; framing, electrical, heating and air conditioning, plumbing...every aspect of your home. Some people balk at our prices until they see that knowledge pay off in the work we do for them.
