Hello, my name is Cody! It all began when I was asked by my mother to photograph her wedding. I hired Jen for my son's 8th birthday party at our house. This is my third time hiring a photographer for my children's birthday parties and third time using Thumbtack. I'm fortunate that I haven't had a bad experience, but Jen has far surpassed everyone else. I love our photographs! And I am very uptight about pictures. I am the family photographer, I take way too many pictures trying to document my children and I'm often not in them as a result. I've been hiring photographers so that I can manage the birthday parties easier, maybe enjoy it a bit, and to be in some pictures. But Jen's picture quality is better than I would have taken. A double win! Jen was very easy to work with. She responded quickly to my bid. She was early to the party to get a sense of our house. She was super friendly and kind with the kids (we have a 8 year old and a 4 year old, and all the kids at the party liked her). She got my son to actually look at her and smile (something he doesn't do for me!). When I asked her to take specific pictures, she was happy to do it. It was a long, hot party and she was friendly and upbeat the whole time. If she was hot and exhausted, she didn't show it. I highly recommend her. She's a friendly, talented, hard working photographer. If you have any questions that I can answer, please let me know. I do get a little nervous hiring strangers for my kids' birthday parties, especially since some of them are at our house, but so far I've had great luck with Thumbtack and we love Jen! Hire her!

I hired Jessi for my son's 9th birthday party. I hired her because she was responsive to my request, but also sounded like she had a good sense of what to do, what I was looking for, and she owned an incredible zoom lens (that I want to own). I am amazed at what an incredible job she did. I am a picture obsessed person. Normally I am the family photographer and am rarely in them. For my kids' birthday parties I've started hiring photographers to lessen the pressure on me and so that I can actually host (and maybe ideally enjoy a bit of it and be in some pictures). Jessi and her partner were fantastic. Honestly, I can't think of anything to complain about (and I'm good at finding problems and complaining). They were early to the party. They took every picture I asked, without problems. When I forgot about certain pictures (combinations of people), that I forgot, they remembered and made it happen. (Thank you!) They organized 24 kids together for a group picture. They did a wonderful mix of posed and candid pictures. They were incredibly thorough at photographing the party and capturing the spirit of it (I've been 'hearting' so many of the pictures). It's what everyone wants. These pictures are better than ones I would have taken. Jessi and her partner are so incredibly professional. I love the images. They are so well-done. But Jessi also wasn't intrusive. I often forgot she and her partner were there, but they were working so hard and blending in. And they worked the whole time and didn't miss anything. Although I hired her for a birthday party, I wouldn't hesitate to recommend her for any big life event (weddings, engagement parties, new baby pictures, etc). Hire her! You'll be lucky you did. I am so impressed and happy with the work that she did. And now I'm hoping to hire her for my daughter's birthday party...

I hired Santana Photography for my daughter's 9th birthday (pictures are very important to me and it's hard to manage a party for kids and take pictures). Santana was very responsive and helpful after I reached out about the event. Because our lives are chaotic, I got our party's beginning time wrong and Santana was flexible and changed his plans. He was kind and professional, and did a great job of rolling with the chaos of the party. (We had a bouncy house in the backyard. A large rainstorm rolled in - he got a couple great pictures of that, and then kids taking over our basement.) We love the images, he's a great photographer, and we appreciate his flexibility. I highly recommend him. He can roll with the chaos of a large event and I'm sure he takes great portraits as well. It can be hard finding great photographers on Thumbtack, but Santana is definitely one of them. Thank you for your help, Santana!

I hired Keith Fletcher (and his wife MiEsha) for my daughter's 4th birthday party. It was in our backyard with a bouncy house and we had a lot of different guests (relatives, preschool friends, our friends, etc). Unfortunately I didn't get much of a chance to talk to Keith beforehand (because I was traveling with my kids and my brother's family), but Keith and MiEsha did a wonderful job. They were on time, friendly, and ready to go. They had great equipment and took so many wonderful candid pictures and group shots of the party and my kids. What I didn't expect was that Keith and MiEsha introduced themselves to our guests and were so wonderful at interacting with everyone. What a relief! My guests were fans of Keith and MiEsha, and I hope that they have more photography jobs from our party. I have DSLR equipment and take many pictures, but I hired Keith because I actually wanted to be in the pictures and didn't want to stress about photography while hosting the party. Even though it was an additional expense, Keith and MiEsha were well worth it. Pictures are what lasts after a big event and I'm so thankful that I have these. I hired Val from Carter Rey Photography to photograph my daughter's 10th birthday, Aug. 12th 2023. The event was at my home. Vao responded right away to my Thumbtack request, and was enthusiastic and kind when we messaged about the project (talking on the phone would be hard for me between two kids, work, running around, etc.) She was punctual, responsive, kind, but most important, a very talented photographer and wonderful with the kids. She was engaged and pushed to have group shots (but not in an obtrusive way). She took wonderful candid photos of the kids on the trampoline and the bouncy house (even got down in the middle of the trampoline). While she was involved and helpful and was the one organizing people into groups (I didn't have to, yay!), she was never obtrusive. She was a great addition to the party. In fact, she made me a little too relaxed, I barely took any photographs. (I am the family photographer.) I love the images she captured and I'm so thankful to have them. She made the day easier and wound up being another helpful adult and helped with an odd situation. She's caring, empathetic, patient and talented. I will definitely recommend Vao from Carter Rey Photography to everyone I know and hire her for future projects. Feel free to reach out if you have any specific questions.
