I was searching for golf lessons last year and saw this great deal for "unlimited lessons" for $285 with a minimum commitment of 3-Months. At first, I was very skeptical like some would be, but, after giving Chris a call and chatting about his service and what I was looking for, I became comfortable and signed up not even two days later. The lessons are as many as you can schedule in for your week, and that he has time for. Lessons came with free range time after each session, and some great opportunity to play some holes if you're ready. Chris is every bit of what he says he is, and a great guy on top of that! I never played golf prior to his instruction, but he made it easy for me to learn, was always patient, and gave constant feedback. Chris was always willing to show me how to do something instead of telling me, which is how I learn best. To anyone on the fence about whether or not this deal is "legit" or "worth-it" it is every bit of both! Would sign-up again in a heartbeat.

These golf lessons were for my good friend Richard. He has benefitted greatly and has continuously said Willard has been patient and great to work with in correcting his golf swing so his elbow no longer is in pain. He will book additional appointments with Willard once the initial set are used. Willard is great!

YOLO Golf Academies' golf philosophy replaces the triangle style of development with a much more detailed and comprehensive approach that mirrors the TPI approach. Instruction is now broken down into six distinct categories. Basic Instruction: Grip, stance, alignment, swing fundamentals, ball position, etc. Advanced Instruction / Shot Making Skills: Short game, specialty shots, trajectories, etc. Course Management: How to play each course, set make ups, game plans, etc. Mental / Emotional: How to handle the mental stress placed on great players. Equipment: Making sure the golfer is fit properly and has the appropriate set make up. Physical Conditioning: Physical Conditioning includes improving aspects of the body that can affect performance. I started playing golf with my mother at the age of 14, in Zambia. In 1996 and 2008, I won the Zambian Amateur and in 1996 was a member of the Zambian National Golf Team. In 1997, I left Zambia and headed to the United States for university where I was a NCAA All American the only year I played. After graduation, I became a professional golfer until an injury while qualifying for the European Tour sidelined my dreams. I have had an accomplished playing career, having played professionally on the Hooters Tour in the US, the Sunshine Tour in Africa and the EPD Tour in Germany.

I have been told, "You never work a day if you do what you love." I was raised into a golfing family, taking lessons during the summer as a 6-year-old. I wasn't able to find a passion for golf up until I started competing in tournaments the following summer and winning them was I able to find enjoyment in the sport. Therefore, I strive to make the driving range fun and most importantly effective to bettering your game! Not only will we work at the driving range, but we also do it anywhere your game needs improvement, leading me to the second part of this business, yoga! If you have never tried it, that's even better. We will have many breakthroughs on the golf course after a good yoga class! The benefits from yoga for your golf game are a list from one to infinity. The more you practice, the better you get. The better you get, the better your golf game will become.

Look; it's simple. As a golfer, don't you want to do the following? * Play to your best potential * Hit the ball as far as you can * Shoot the lowest score you can * Be consistent * Play without pain * Play multiple days without bad rounds * Take money from your friends * Have the lowest handicap possible So in order to do that, we believe that your overall success is dependent on many factors and that many are related to how well your body moves. So when preparing your body to be able to play your best golf, we consider the following: * the specific neuromuscular demands of golf * the common sites of injury for the average golfer * your muscular imbalances * when soft tissue therapy is needed to accelerate the process * the energy system requirements * proper nutritional support It's been this type of specific approach that has helped coach our amateurs to play their best, from high handicappers to elite juniors, all the way to our PGA winners!

      Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

What makes a good golf instructor?

A good golf instructor is someone who has the playing skill you’d like to achieve, is qualified to teach golf, and is someone you can get along with. Some experts recommend you only take golf lessons from coaches with active accreditation from reputable associations such as the PGA, LPGA, or similar organizations that focus on continuing education. You’ll be spending hours out on the green with the pro during lessons, so a good rapport, strong communication and the right personality fit are key. A proven track record is also important. Read reviews from their current and former students to make sure they have helped people achieve their golfing goals, and always ask about the instructor’s experience before signing on for lessons. Years of providing lessons can contribute to a deeper understanding of how to teach the sport. Just because your friend or partner is great at golf doesn’t mean they’ll give good golf lessons. Invest in a professional golf instructor who knows how to teach the sport from short game to full swing.

What age should you start golf lessons?

Golf lessons for kids can start as early as age four or five. They’re too young for formal training, but you can keep them interested and engaged and give them a feel for the game. U.S. Kids Golf recommends starting formal training for junior golfers at six years old. It’s important for young golfers to swing clubs that are the right length and weight for their body; U.S. Kids Golf provides a fitting guide.

Golf lessons for kids, especially young kids, should be about encouraging success rather than correcting mistakes, according to U.S. Kids Golf. If you want your child to love golf for life, you want their early experiences to be positive. Golf lessons for kids are less expensive than golf lessons for adults. A monthly rate (including four lessons) for group golf lessons for kids may average $100. Semi-private golf lessons for kids may range from $150 to $200 per month. Location and instructor reputation can also affect cost. Often, discounts are provided when multiple months are purchased at one time.

      How much are golf lessons?

Golf lessons are a great way to break into the sport or take your golf game to a new level. The national average cost for golf lessons is $50-$60, but prices will vary based on what type of lessons you want. The most expensive golf lessons will be private instruction with top-tier coaches. These are golf instructors who have held high professional ranking and have a good reputation. Regardless of who is teaching, private instruction is always more costly than couples’ lessons or small group lessons (usually up to four people). Teachers often offer a lower price per lesson when you buy a package of several lessons at one time. Here are some examples of average golf lesson costs:

      • Individual lessons:
        • Standard pricing for 60-minute private lesson: $60.
        • 60-minute lesson with renowned golf coach: $100.
      • Couples’ lessons:
        • Standard pricing for 90-minute duo lesson: $100.
        • 60-minute lesson with renowned golf coach: $125.
      • Golf lesson package pricing:
        • Purchase six individual lessons at one time and save $10.
        • Purchase 10 individual lessons at one time and save $40.
        • Purchase six couples’ lessons at one time and save $40.
        • Purchase 10 couples’ lessons at one time and save $200.
Hire skilled professionals for absolutely everything.
