Jamie worked with me to improve the quality of my resume. She read through the job description then provided guidance for how to revise my resume so that it would describe my previous work experience in the most relevant way to the position for which I was applying. She also provided some general advice on how to make my resume flow in a way that seemed to make it much more clear and logical. While I had edited and reviewed this resume 40-50 different times, Jamie was able to suggest multiple, common sense revisions that I could see had directly improved the effectiveness of my resume. Before I worked with Jamie, I generally believed that resumes were a waste of time. Afterwards, I realized that, with her help, I was able to highlight the intent of the resume. I could see that when my resume was focused and well-organized, it would actually help me in my job search as opposed to being another hoop to jump through. For reference, I was applying to a State of Colorado natural resource agency for a position doing GIS and biological survey work. Thanks Jamie!

FAQs

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I read lots of professional development books, run a blog, and read employee development/HR news regularly.
How did you get started doing this type of work?
I fell into resume and cover letter editing while working at the Career Center in Graduate School, and ended up LOVING the work. That led me into student and employee development, and I've never turned back.
What types of customers have you worked with?
Helping them spruce up a basic resume that is either too long, wordy, or out of date. I also help people apply for specific jobs using a resume and cover letter as the entry tool. In my day job, I coach people through difficult work situations, and design development courses for employees.
