"Wade was one of the best people I have ever worked with. Once we confirmed, he took the initiative to make a photo template for our event and found the flier we had created online. I worked quickly over the phone to finalize the graphics and all the photos turned out amazing. He dealt with a large crowd (hundreds) of elementary school children and their families with patience and a friendly attitude. The props were fun and the booth was professional and stage of the art. Everyone had so much fun watching other people take photos in the open air booth with the screen flashing recent photos! He made sure that everyone got their copies and left satisfied. The pictures came out fast and he had plenty of copies for everyone. I will hire him again and again! Everyone had so much fun and went home with an amazing photo to remember the Carnival! Wade was such a great person to have at our event and it was the most popular attraction! Thank you so much! "

"I've read the reviews of Picture Perfect, so I'm likely in the minority here, but this photo booth was NOT ideal for the following reasons: 1. The photo strips were TINY. So much smaller than another booth rental we did where the strips were large enough that you could see the pics. 2. The "memory book" is just a photo album full of these tiny strips. NOT worth the additional charge at ALL. It would be one thing if it was a digital book with larger images, but it was just a cheap book with additional prints in it. 3. They gave a disk of the photos after the event instead of a USB jump drive. This is insane. Disks aren't compatible with Mac, and are a colossal pain in the you-know-what, even on a PC, or laptop. Our disk included photos from other people's parties (seriously), and each individual 'strip' was it's own file, so to extract these photos, you have to open each. individual. file. WHYYYYYYY in this day and age? 4. We ordered the "open air booth" because it was for a Halloween party, and was listed as "50 max" people. In reality, maybe 6-8 people could 'fit' in the area/photos. We have rented booths before, and this experience was far sub-par to what we were accustomed to. The attendant was great and all of that, but let's be honest, you're not paying for a 'great attendant', you want the actual photos to be fun, large enough to see, and to NOT have to spend 4 hours after-the-fact sifting through a disk of photos to try to get your images. Guests had fun, but for our party next year, we will go with a different booth."

"Noah was very friendly and personable. He made me feel comfortable from the moment I stepped in the doors until the moment I left. Probably my favorite thing about Noah was that he took a few moments to explain what he was doing and why it was important. He asked me to pose in specific ways and, maybe from experience, or maybe from sensing my apprehension, he explained why that pose worked. I enjoyed working with Noah and the final images of our photo shoot were more than satisfactory. I would recommend him to anyone looking for professional photos. "

"There are truly no words to describe my love and appreciation for both Turi and Hipster Mama Productions. Working as an Director of Events in the Media world I have used a couple of bands at both smaller and larger expos. Her professionalism, her passion and her love for her clients is one I will never never take for granted. I love her so much, she is the band at my sisters wedding coming up in Summer of 2016. If I could recommend any of her bands, I would say you wont be disappointed. They are truly the best! "

"Bryan shot our engagement photos and our summer wedding - we were very pleased with both experiences. He was very timely with our end products and gave us CDs of all of our photos so we could do all of our own printing. I felt like we got a great value compared to other wedding quotes and we even had a photo booth which was a big hit with everyone at our wedding. "

"I had Mary do my Husband and I's elopement photos for our announcements. He's not one to open up, and I pretty much dragged him there, within five minutes her and her sister had him genuinely laughing. LOVELY personality and she knows how to make you feel comfortable, since taking photos can be nerve wracking for a non model! She was amazingly flexible and was willing to schedule the shoot for the very next day after she reached out. The photos are going in every card and every album I can get my hands on. Absolutely LOVED them. Thanks again, Mary!"

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

What is a photo booth rental?

A party photo booth is a fun, interactive experience where guests can take a series of photos (usually three or four) that are immediately printed out on a strip as a keepsake. When you rent a party photo booth, the company sets up the booth or photo station at your event; a photographer staffs the booth and coaches guests on how to use it throughout the event. Often the photo booth rental company provides props like silly hats, wigs and glasses. There are different types of party photo booth rentals. An open-air booth has a curtain or backdrop that allows more freedom of movement and enables more people to use it at one time. The traditional enclosed photo booths that you may have seen at the mall or the fair tend to cost more to rent, as they are harder to transport and also cost more for the pros to purchase. The national average cost for party photo booth rentals is $400-$500.

How much is it to rent a photo booth for a party?

Renting a party photo booth for your next event will get your guests engaged and provide a take-home favor for attendees. The cost to rent a party photo booth will vary depending on the type of booth, the day and time of year, the length of the rental, and any add-ons you select. The national average cost for party photo booth rentals is $400-$500. Here are some examples of average party photo booth rental costs:

  • Weekday packages: $300-$550, depending on features included and length of rental. A three-hour weekday package for $500 could include guest book, personalized photo strips and DVD of all the photos.
  • Weekend packages: $450-$700, depending on features included and length of rental.
  • Additional hours: $100-$150 per extra hour.
  • Add-on features:
    • Photo guest album services: $75.
    • Personalized photo strips: $30-$50.
    • Custom photo backdrops or vinyl skin branding of the booth: $150-$300.
    • Live social media connectivity (ability to share photos to social media accounts): $100-$250.

How do you make a wedding photo booth backdrop?

Creative or DIY-savvy couples can make a wedding photo booth backdrop in no time. You can ask your rental company to incorporate a custom backdrop into your rental party photo booth, or do your own custom photo booth with a friend serving as photographer. It’s easiest to make your own backdrop for an open air photo booth, which you can hang on a wall at an indoor reception, or hang from a tree or in a homemade frame at an outdoor reception.

One simple yet glamorous option is a tinsel curtain. Choose silver or gold for classic elegance, or go for a wild color like bright pink. For a more refined look, you can purchase three or four yards of a luxe fabric that fits your wedding color theme. Creative couples may want to get funky and spray-paint or hand-paint designs onto a cotton canvas backdrop. Don’t forget to provide props for your guests; the props are half the fun and encourage guests to get playful for the camera. Paint an oversized picture frame gold (don’t forget to take out the glass!) for your guests to hold up. Provide a chalkboard where they can write cute messages to hold in their photo, and colorful items from your costume box: think hats, wigs, funky sunglasses, and sequined accessories.
