I am someone who does not feel very comfortable in the gym, and it honestly scares me to go sometimes. Mike was able to respond well to my inexperience through his positive attitude, dedication to form, and properly giving room to improve. When working out, Mike did not care if I was doing the heaviest weights in the room or no weight at all—he mainly focused on proper form and giving pointers for when you want to add weight. This made me feel better because I didn’t feel self-conscious about not using a lot of weight. Mike was responsive to my wants, asking what I really wanted to focus on and setting up a plan to do those workouts, but also gave suggestions for workouts I wouldn’t even consider (but now enjoy)! He made it clear the work I wanted wouldn’t happen in one session, and motivated me to continue going to the gym, whether with him or not. It made me feel better about making personal goals and commitments with fitness.
