Mike and his helper were fantastic. They cleaned four 9x 11, two 3x8, and one 4 ft round area rug, as well as the set of stairs leading to the basement and our 20x12 family room wall to wall carpet. They cleaned tile and grout in 2 bathrooms and a 4x4 stone entryway. All tile floors look brand new. This was especially nice as I didn't know they did tile and grout when scheduling-it was a spur of the moment add on. I could not be more pleased. One of the runners was Very stained and smelly. Stains are gone and it's now odorless. They came prepared to move the large pieces of furniture and helped me put everything- large and small back where I had it. They arrived on time and were gone in just a little over 2 hrs. And on top of all this they left my carpets dry and all warranties intact. I will definitely use Magic Dry services again!

Vinson was prompt, professional, and very friendly. He got out spots I never thought possible. There were a couple spots that wouldn't come out. He really tried to get them out but they are impossible I think. He gave me a great rate for my whole house. I am very impressed. I highly recommend him. I will hire him again in the future & recommend him to friends. The house smells fresh not like chemicals and carpets are very soft now! The carpets dried in a few hours. Great job!

We hired Daniel to remove some windows and install French doors in their place. This did not seem like an easy job with the fact our home was built in 1893 and he was basically cutting a hole in the side of the house. Gonzales construction made it look easy! His team worked with skill and efficiency and did the job without issue. They also installed a redwood deck to bring us through the doors and onto a newly constructed stone patio. The result was worthy of 5 stars! Thanks Daniel!

A Dream kitchen comes true! Giza Stone Works offered us products that were far more superior than anything else we looked at and at a quarter the cost of everything else we were quoted. The entire kitchen remodel was completed in a timely manner. Alex and his team were very punctual, clean and pleasant to be around. The work site was kept clean and Alex answered any questions I had before during and after completion of this project. Lizeth in the office was courteous and prompt to return calls and answer questions. The crew along with Alex and George are amazing craftsmen. I have referred several people to GSW for great products and an amazing job. I had previous contractor nightmares, so I was worried about contracting with anyone, this experience was The best! Highly recommend Giza Stone Works. Thank you, Alex, you were true to your word and that is the best gift I could have asked for. Five Stars from me!!!

Out of four hiring’s we have made on Thumbtack for residential home improvements, Jim by far has been the finest contractor we have worked with. From the start Jim was on-time, accommodating and understanding. He worked with our schedule and met our needs. Whether it was timing or a money factor he was able to make it happen. We showed Jim numerous home improvement projects and he assisted us in establishing a timeline, cost and level of importunacy. He isn’t there to just get the job done. He utilizes his infinite experience, coupled with his heart. The work he does is honest and meaningful. He is the first to recommended something, fully explain the project and do what is right! The 300+ sqft of real travertine stone (delicate, thick, large and heavy), installed on an intricate diagonal layout by Jim cannot be explained. He did such a beautiful job! I wish we would have known him when we had other kitchen and bath tile installed. His communication and workmanship sets him apart from anyone you have ever worked with! We looked forward to having Jim back after he completes another clients job for painting and interior trim work, each in which he has evidenced to us his amazing carpentry abilities.

Carlos and Unique Stone did a very good job fabricating and installing my countertop. What I liked most was how Carlos would recognize potential problems before hand and prepare in advance to solve any issue. And also when issues did arise Carlos never went up on his price.

Kacie came in for a deep clean, she was/is so thorough. Not to mention she's extremely nice and personable. Although, when I hired Kacie for the one time clean, I hadn't thought about having her come in regularly. However, after having her here, chatting and what not; I will be discussing regular visits. Literally no stone left unturned. I previously was using a franchise housekeeper and was getting really let down; from in leaned toilets to dirty dishes in the sink. They even arrived an hour late consistently. Kacie was on time, early even. She talked to me about pain points in the house and preferences. Again, so thorough. Super awesome lady!

Judy just started cleaning my apartment and after two services, I could not be more pleased. The wood floors shine, both bathroom and kitchen sparkle and my bedroom carpet is vacuumed. All my bedroom and living room furniture is polished. I now look forward to coming home from work on the days she comes to clean because I know my place will look amazing. Thank you Judy! ROB

We were looking to replace our counter-tops on short notice and Stone Ideas was the solution to this need. Everyone in the company was really easy to work with. They were great at communicating with us and were very helpful in answering all questions that we had along the way. They also were able to change our counter installation date in order to accommodate a deadline change. The crew that installed the counters did an excellent job and were very detailed in their work. I would HIGHLY recommend using Stone Ideas for your counter needs.

    Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

How can I get my grout clean?

Dirt, mildew and grime can make your grout lines look downright tragic. If you have the ability, DIY tile and grout cleaning is definitely doable. Your main obstacles are time, project size, availability of the right materials and effort. Your first step in tile and grout cleaning is making sure the surface area is cleaned of basic dirt and buildup and wiped down. Be sure not to use a bleach-based cleaning agent, which could react dangerously with the vinegar used in later steps.

Depending on the delicacy of your tile and grout, it may be wise to start with water and friction before proceeding to a cleaning solution. In the shower you can spray the area while brushing gently, or use a spray bottle filled with warm water on countertops or floors. If water won’t do the trick, try a solution of equal parts warm water and white vinegar, and repeat the gentle brushing motion. This combination should begin to lift dirt and grime from the grout. For additional tile and grout cleaning power, baking soda applied directly to grout lines and sprayed with your water vinegar solution can help suds off sticky grime. If your DIY cleaning solutions aren’t doing the trick, store-bought sprays and pastes may have more cleansing power. Rinse thoroughly after cleaning and enjoy your sparkling clean grout.

Tile and grout cleaning supplies include:

    • Old standard or electric toothbrush
    • Stiff bristle brush
    • Spray bottle
    • White vinegar
    • Commercial grout cleaner

How much does it cost to clean tile and grout?

The national average cost for tile and grout cleaning ranges from $190 to $250. Pros may charge a flat fee or by the square foot. Rates can vary depending on the type of tile and grout you have (more delicate tiles may mean specialized products or careful handwashing), how dirty your tile and grout are, and what part of the country you are in (regional labor rates and costs to do business affect costs). For example, one floor cleaning company charges 75 cents per square foot for tile and grout cleaning for projects that permit cleaning by machine. Another company may charge $30-$50 per hour for hand-cleaning of tiles. Companies often charge a minimum fee for services to ensure their business expenses are met when they accept a job, no matter how small. In addition, a tile and flooring cleaning professional may charge added fees, such as $25 or more, to move heavy furniture or appliances.

How do professionals clean tile and grout?

If you need tile and grout cleaning and don’t have the time or mobility for scrubbing your entire house on your hands and knees, it’s time to turn to the pros. Tile and grout cleaning professionals have industrial-grade machines designed for the sole task of cleaning the porous materials of grout and tile. Typically, a cleaning pro will come out to assess the job and provide you with a quote. Often they charge per square foot (for example, 75 cents per square foot), with higher prices or an hourly rate for areas that will need hand cleaning. The national average cost for tile and grout cleaning ranges from $190 to $250. Once onsite, the pros thoroughly clean the area by wiping or sweeping down and then vacuuming up any dry dirt. Next a chemical tile cleaner is sprayed over the surface, causing dirt to loosen and adhere to the spray; the industry term for this is “suspension.” The pros then clean the floor with professional-strength machines, which often use a combination of steam, brushes and vacuum to loosen, agitate and lift entrenched dirt. Your floor is then rinsed, removing all the spray. Usually a small room can be cleaned in under an hour. Applying a sealant afterward is recommend and will also affect cost.

Hire skilled professionals for absolutely everything.
