Violin Lessons (for adults)

Not only is Joe an incredibly talented and inspiring performer, he is also a very engaging and effective teacher. I have 2 kids--a 12 year old daughter who plays violin and viola and a 10 year old son who plays cello. Both kids love fiddle tunes and I asked Joe if he could give them a few fiddle lessons over the summer to supplement their regular strings lessons. He agreed enthusiastically and we scheduled 4 lessons over a 2 week period. The kids loved him from the beginning and I was amazed at what they learned in just 1 lesson. The first thing he did was chat with the kids for a few minutes to find out what kind of music they like, what their musical goals were, and just get to know them a little. The 3 subsequent lessons were every bit as good. He worked with both kids at the same time, an hour each lesson. He helped them with improvisation, bowing technique, arrangement, melody, and chords, among other things. By the end of the 4th lesson, they had learned how to take a simple tune, create a musical intro and arrange the piece, trading off melody with accompaniment (chords, chops, etc.) They performed the arrangement for me and I was blown away with all they had learned. They had nothing but good things to say about their experience with Joe. Unfortunately for us, Joe now lives in Colorado, so we'll have to wait until next summer for more of his amazing teaching. But, his teaching had such an impact on my kids, it will carry them through! Thanks, Joe!

Joe has a love and passion for music that is contagious and infectious. He is an amazing model for music excellence, and as a human. Time flies in lessons, and I always comes out with the tools I need to improve my skills for the next lesson.

Joe is a very unique teacher. He is a very inspirational person/teacher and won't fail to teach you to see the beauty in making music with other human beings. He is also a wonderful player. His techniques will really change the way you practice, play, and perceive the violin.
