Gutter cleaning of heavy pine needle debris in a two story bi-ievel house. Francisco arrived when scheduled and spent several hours cleaning and bagging the needles. Also installed spout filters to catch future debris from clogging down spouts. Cost was reasonable and in mid range of estimates received. I would have no problems hiring again and recommending to family and friends.

Daniel and his team helped my wife and I transform a house built in 1906 into a modern masterpiece. They did an UNBELIEVABLE job at a very reasonable price. At first, I was a little hesitant to use them as one reviewer perviously gave them a wretched review, but I couldnt be happier with the end-results. They completely remodeled the basement, added 2 bathrooms, re-did another bathroom, dry walled multiple rooms, built an amazing egress window well, installed a water heater, sewer ejector pump, kitchenette, and laid tile/ flooring throughout the house. Separately, on a personal level Daniel and his crew are some of the nicest individuals you'll ever meet. IF YOU ARE EVER ON THE FENCE ABOUT USING DANIEL AND HIS CREW DONT BE....FEEL FREE TO CONTACT ME AT ANY TIME AND ID BE HAPPY TO SHOW OFF HIS WORK. This certainly wont be the last time we use him. Jose was very responsive. He replied to every message very quickly. He was able to come and perform the work the next day. He was friendly, polite and kept the workspace and the rest of our house clean from the dust, etc. He did a great job patching holes in our drywall and finishing with texture to match. Would highly recommend.

Throughout each step of getting my sink replaced, I received clear and timely communication. Once present are my home, Antonio took time to explain to me each step of the process to ensure I was satisfied with the work. He was careful and efficient. He even spent time cleaning up (even though we are remodeling and the house is a mess) AND stool away the old sink. Would certainly hire again for other jobs.

Hire This company! Hire Jake & his brother! I had the nightmare of nightmare general contractors come into my home and leave it in shambles. The electrical was left dangerously disorganized. Jake and his brother showed up and worked around the clock to make sure the whole house was 100% safe and ready to go for me and my family. It feels great knowing people like Jake have your back and will make your home safe secure modern and functioning exactly as you like. I’ll use these guys again and again. Thanks for your work guys! I reached out to Andrew Scott Builders for a major repair to our house. Ian and Andy were able to come up with a solution to save us thousands on the repair. Ian was very dedicated, always available and was able to juggle multiple tasks at the same time. I would recommend these guys for any contracting work.

Matt "Big Red" did a fantastic job! He promptly came out to bid the job, gave us a fair price and then was able to start the job the next day. He tiled two back splashes for me, he did quality work and was creative with the tile project when given autonomy when I had to leave the house for the day. Matt also did some painting and drywall repair on my basement. He worked hard, completed the job efficiently. He helped me with sawing a countertop, bringing in his table saw and didn't charge me anything. I would highly recommend Big Red Innovations for your construction needs. He is also very friendly and trustworthy, I felt totally at ease when I had to leave him alone in my home while I was out for the day. A+++

Abstact builders is a great source for me. Silas has worked on older homes so is familiar with the things he could run into. Although mine is over 100 yrs old. Puting in a window in the kitchen seemed easy enough til it didn't pop out and he found it bound in lath and plaster. No one freaked out but it took saws and patience, and new ideas and Silas had all that. He is not working continually but constantly working in one part of the house or another, finding what works and what doesn't, reorganizing the way things need to be done instead what CAN be done to get it overwith. I am very impressed and by the time he is finished this will be a working model that is also beautiful and still a very old home. 7

This was a good experience from start to finish. Mike looked over the old bathroom and provided a written estimate to gut and redo the whole room. We set a start date and on the day we chose they began. Since my house is over 35 years old we expected surprises, so when we found issues with my floor we revised the estimate - the changes were UNDER $1000 and only took one day more. Drywall took the longest to complete, but re-tiling the walls and floors went smoothly! The best surprise was having the glass block shower wall installed - it was done in less than a day and looked fantastic! The entire job took a week and a half and I am thrilled with the end product. - The new shower cartridge had issues so they came back and made it right. They worked clean and picked up all the debris. Am I satisfied? You bet!

Excellent experience in every way. These men are competent, punctual, experienced and fast. I can't say enough good things about them. I was very fortunate to have them put in 1250 sqf of Pergo flooring in my house. The job was finished in 5 days and done perfectly. They really know what they're doing and were a pleasure to work with!

Fran built our house from start to finish. We still have the basement to finish. It is a rather large house. The quality of the work was excellent. He custom built our home and we love it. He had a lot of very good suggestions. He and his crew were always polite, friendly and cooperative. They were good and courteous to one another. We were around them for approximately six months or more. The things we had trouble with were the work seemed to have taken longer as there would be days when there was no one doing anything. We understand that we were not his only clients and he had to manage the crews. We were always around, which in talking with other people who have had their houses built, most builders do not want or allow. We have a few things which still need to be finished. I feel Fran will do them but it is difficult to work around. The other thing is that I felt, then and now, that if the premises were kept more clean with less clutter they would be able to work more easily. As it was. one group doing staining left. some rags in a pile. When they caught fire there was a lot of damage with the smoke. I will say that they got busy and cleaned the walls redid the painting, repaired the damage and concentrated on getting rid of the smoke smell which was quite extensive. All in all I would recommend having Fran do the work.because in the end the quality is there

I was considering making an offer on a house that was built in 1953, definitely a fixer-upper! Since I am a 70-year-old single woman, I needed to be sure the project would be feasible for me. Jim has impressive experience in many areas of construction, but took the time to analyze the home with my needs and skills in mind, since he had seen my previous projects. He has helped me with various aspects of the remodel, and I would highly recommend him for his abilities, integrity, work ethic, and reasonable pricing.

Steven South and his team did a fantastic job with our kitchen remodel. They were very professional, clean, conscious of our time, space and budget and quick to address any concerns that came up during the process. The bid was accurate and pricing was fair and they were responsive and flexible with our many scope changes. The quality of materials and workmanship was excellent and LSE Builders Group will be certainly asked back for our next remodel project.

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

Why should you hire a contractor?

Hiring a general contractor is a good idea for many remodeling projects. Home renovation contractors have a broad range of skills to manage, coordinate and complete a project. They should help make sure your project comes in on time and within your budget as they hire and supervise all the necessary subcontractors, including electricians and plumbers. They also handle procuring all the materials required for your job. Some homeowners look to save money by acting as their own contractor, but an experienced home renovation contractor is worth the cost. They should know local building codes, be able to pull all necessary permits, and work with inspectors to make sure the construction meets local codes. Also, because they get professional discounts, they can typically buy materials at a better price than you can; better prices on materials and labor save you money, and make up for at least a percentage of the cost of the contractor.

When should you hire a contractor?

A few home remodeling projects can be done by an ambitious DIY-minded homeowner or local handyman, but many are best completed by a professional home renovation contractor. You should hire a contractor when you’re planning a large project that takes time, machinery or large tools, and several workers; a kitchen remodel, new bathroom or home addition will be most successful with a licensed, expert contractor at the helm. It’s particularly important to have a professional contractor on board for construction, electrical, plumbing and HVAC projects that require inspections to meet local building codes. Of course, you can hire a contractor for smaller projects, too, if you prefer to let an expert handle things like addition or removal of a wall, small framing projects, or anything that requires a permit.

You should hire a contractor when you’re ready to start a remodeling project and you have plans, a budget and a timeline for the work in hand, but before any remodeling work begins.

How much will it cost to remodel my house?

The cost to remodel a home is highly variable — size and scope of the project, quality of materials, and the number of subcontractors required to complete the job all affect the total cost. The average national cost of a home renovation project is $13,500. The national average per-square-foot cost of a remodel ranges from $25 to $100. Nationally, kitchen and bathroom remodels are the most popular types of projects, in part because they typically have the highest return on investment when the home is sold. The national average cost of a major kitchen remodel ranges from $25,000 to $62,000, while the average bathroom remodel tends to cost $6,000 to $18,000. In addition to materials and labor costs, many remodeling project costs include permit fees, which, average $900 or more, depending on your location.

Do I need a contractor for a kitchen remodel?

A kitchen remodel is one of the most important investments you can make in your home, and it’s critical to get the details right; that’s where a home renovation contractor comes in. A minor remodel usually includes new cabinet faces and hardware, replacement appliances, and paint, while an extensive job may enlarge the kitchen’s square footage, install new cabinets or an island, change the layout, and lay new tile or hardwood floors. Any renovation that includes filing permits, construction, or electrical or plumbing work is best completed by an experienced contractor who knows local codes.
