FAQs
- What types of customers have you worked with?
Staging homes that are about to be put on the market to sell is the most common type of job. Some of the homes are vacant and some of the homes are occupied. The vacant homes typically require furniture to be rented and I will typically stage the living room, dining room, kitchen and 1 or 2 bedrooms. Accessories will be purchased or rented. The goal is to set up the home so that potential buyers can picture themselves living there, which will encourage the buyer to make an offer on the home. A home that has been staged is much more appealing than a home that is empty. An occupied home typically requires some redesigning and elimination of clutter. I will tell the homeowner what needs to be done and they will choose to do the work themselves or have me do it for them. The goal in this situation is to accentuate the most marketable features of the home and to downplay its less desirable features. Redesigning a home is also something that I will often do. Many people just want me to come to their home and help them with some simple ideas of ways they can update their home.
- What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?
Most reputable home stagers will charge something for the initial consultation. Don't be afraid to ask questions about the home stager's experience. Ask to see some photographs of work they have already completed so that you will be sure that you like their style of decorating.
