- How did you get started doing this type of work?
I was going to be an architect and decided it was not challenging enough for me. While taking some college classes I was looking for another interest and I found the Appraisers class. It sparked my interest and after taking the classes and doing 3 years of training I decided I really enjoyed doing appraising. I always like puzzles. Appraisal are one big puzzle and you have to figure it out. Another thing I really enjoy about appraising is you are continuing to learn the market as it is forever changing. You could have the most experience, most education in the field and you still have something to learn. Its great to continue to have a challenge in every assignment.
- What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?
Always ask for how much experience the Appraiser has and ask for a company of their license. A good appraiser should be able to answer any of your questions and always have a copy of their license handy.
