Kara was great…we only met once but she gave me a lot of training tips. My dog is a Husky and not very treat motivated, which is part of Kara’s training program.

Friendly, helpful training service. I was drawn to polite pooches because I strongly believe in positive reinforcement only and I appreciate the emphasis on training your dog to listen and not just instill fear. Bonus points because Ghost loves his trainer and gets excited to see her!

Kara was very helpful with some basic obedience training for my dog! She was always on time and had a plan each week for what we would be learning and what I needed to practice with my dog until the next week. My dog is blind in one eye and she would always take that into consideration to make sure he was still learning everything correctly. I would recommend her because my dog learned a lot and I also learned a lot about how to train him!

Kara has been awesome. I was able to learn multiple positive reinforcement training techiques that worked very well for Thurman (10 week Goldendoodle) . In a matter of weeks Thurman has learned a multitude of commands and his general obedience is much better. Not only has Thurman learned multiple commands and obedience, but Kara also taught me a ton about being a dog owner. I would highly recommend Kara to train your next dog!

We hired Kara for 6 sessions to train our hyper energetic puppy. It was obvious from the very beginning that Kara is a very professional, knowledgeable and experienced dog trainer. Our puppy fell in love with her and was very excited to see her and “work” with her. Kara showed us ways to successfully and effectively approach our dog. She taught our puppy basic commands and us how to control his hyperactivity. Highly recommended!

What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
I believe that training your pet at your home helps improve their behavior in the environment in which they live. Polite Pooches works with you both so that you will have success when I'm not around. Find my details at: PolitePoochesColorado.com
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
Earning my national certification (CPDT-KA) was a pain-staking effort, but well worth it. This entailed proof of several hundred hours of training dogs (every hour had to be verified and signed for by a superior), and the written test was pretty grueling too. It tests mastery in teaching skills, learning theory (how dogs learn), ethology, equipment, and animal husbandry. I believe a well-versed trainer is something everyone should look for. And if I cannot answer your questions, I have a community of 700 trainers world-wide to seek a solution. And even if I don't become your trainer, please find a positive-reinforcement ONLY trainer. Our dogs deserve kindness and respect, not intimidation and pain, when they learn.
