Melissa's passion for makeup artistry began over 20 years ago when she began her journey to inspire women and impact the world of beauty. That experience has shaped a long career working behind the scenes in film, at magazine shoots, fashion week and leading seminars teaching artistry techniques. Her 12 years as an artistry educator brings real-life experience and hands-on expertise to her work. Beautiful Outlook is an expert in her field! She met me in my home to do a free makeup trial and she does amazing work. If you're looking for someone to make you look Red Carpet Ready, I would highly recommend Beautiful Outlook!

My daughter and I had the pleasure of working with Melissa and her assistant this past weekend. We inquired on thumbtack.com about makeup artists for my daughter’s prom. Melissa was 1 of 3 professionals who provided a quote. After reviewing the quotes, websites and portfolios of each individual, it was clear that Melissa was the professional we wanted to work with. Melissa was quick to respond to our questions via email and very pleasant on the phone. She even called the day before the prom to confirm that she would be there at the time and location we previously discussed. Melissa and her assistant arrived at my house, on time with all necessary make-up and tools to create the look my daughter was seeking. Melissa asked questions and truly listened to what my daughter wanted which was a really natural looking make-up with some light touches of gold to highlight and add sparkle. Once Melissa was done, my daughter and I could not have been more pleased with the final outcome. I would highly recommend Melissa to friends and family who are looking for a great make-up artist for special events and I will most definately use Melissa for all future needs. Melissa did make up for my wedding. She took the time to listen to the look I was going for (natural but a little done up). Shared with me and my bridal party what she was doing and why. SOOO MANY FUN TIPS! And I was blown away by what an incredible job she did. Just wish Melissa lived closer so she could do my makeup more often!

I received my makeup artistry training from Melissa at Beautiful Outlook. Her passion and knowledge of the industry is evident in her teaching. The curriculum is straight forward and the support she gives her students is amazing!!   • What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

    Make sure that when you select a makeup artist, that you ask them some important questions tailored to your specific needs. For example, if you have an allergy to a certain ingredient, inquire about what products they use. Many makeup artists don't take that into consideration, and use the same products on everyone. Another example is anti-aging makeup. If you aren't a 20 year model, which most of us aren't, make sure that your artist is experienced with the tricks of trade for age appropriate makeup. It is a very different skill to design and create a look based on the needs of your client, not the same thing for every face.
