We hired Aaron to install knobs and handles on cabinets and drawers. Most of the job went ok, but he was a little careless and made several mistakes (drilled multiple errant holes that later had to be covered or repaired).
There was one drawer in particular that he messed up. I happened to be watching him when he made the mistake, and he made the comment that if I hadnt seen him make the hole he could have covered it up to where I would never have even known that he made it (which to me showed he would be dishonest about mistakes if given the chance).
He made a temporary patch on the drawer and he offered to replace the drawer face for the drawer he messed up. He left my home with us on good terms and having had a generally pleasant experience due to the work he completed and the promises to make right any mistakes he had made. When we took him up on the offer he went ahead and bought the new drawer face for us. After the new drawer face arrived, I asked him when he wanted to come and mount it and install the handle on the drawer. He, out of nowhere, accused us of taking advantage of him and refused to come and simply install the new drawer face. All I did was politely ask him when he wanted to take care of this single drawer. I am guessing it would have taken him about 15 minutes to complete the process of repairing his mistake.
I will not use him for any future jobs. He had a tendency to be a little careless, didnt seem very concerned with fixing his mistakes, and showed certain dishonest tendencies during and after the job.
