How does your service stand out?

My teaching philosophy consists of an individual approach with each student. Each singer has different vocal problems and those needs are directly addressed. This studio gives private instruction for singing with, above all else, the principals of a healthy voice and sound.

Private Voice Lessons or Private Singing Lessons are on a one-on-one basis within an hour or half-hour lesson; with half vocal technique instruction and half repertoire selection. Coaching with piano accompaniment is available at no additional cost and woven into the lesson.

Half-hour singing lessons are recommended to start. New students work mainly within a half-hour lesson. For medium 45" lessons and advanced students: 30" technique/30"repertoire within one hour voice lessons are recommended.

Working directly with my clients to achieve their goals. People as like flavors of ice cream, each one is unique.

My background includes both national and international performing credits as well as teaching experience. In addition to technical vocal instruction, I offer vocal repertoire coaching and audition tips to singers. Many of my current students are reaching their professional goals by showing up prepared for their auditions.

Patrice is a delight. Her love of singing and music is inspiring. I felt no pressure to perform or reach a pre-set goal but to travel at my own pace. She took time to get to know me, my voice and musical preferences. I look forward to the lessons and releasing my own music.

Patrice is a wonderful voice instructor. She uses tools such as scales and tongue twisters to help warm up the voice and teach students to listen to the sound quality of their voice and helps them to improve the quality so they can more effectively reach out to the audience. She is very knowledgeable in all different types of music and is always willing to try something a little different. She has a great background in music and she has actively lived a vocal life as a singer around the world which makes her expertise invaluable. We have seen great improvements in our daughter’s voice and performance skills since she started with Patrice in February. We noticed immediate change in vocal quality and now we see greater confidence and a willingness to reach further into the musical world and try pieces that would have previously been beyond her ability or willingness to try. We have been with two voice instructors previously and Patrice out shines them all.

Very well educated. Set up proper appointment was on time and ready to go. Jumped right in with my daughter. Ella was intersteaded and wanting to learn more. We will keep her on with us. Thank you Patrice. Looking forward to many years of education from you with my daughter.

Question and answer

Q. What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

A. It varies according to the singers ability and level~

Q. What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

A. Extensive national and international performing experience. Higher education degrees at Boston Conservatory of Music, Columbia University and University of Colorado at Boulder.

Q. How did you get started doing this type of work?

A. Music is a passion rather than a decision to participate. In my case, as far back as I can remember I sang and played the pianoforte. There is a photo of myself sitting at the keyboard, legs barely dangling over the side of the bench with my fingers on the keyboard and my mouth open singing....I was one years old.

Q. What types of customers have you worked with?

A. Voice lessons, audition preparation and tips along with performance oriented activities and stage presense. College-age, adult students and high school singers. Also, recently coached stage speech preparation for live radio and convention presentations in professional settings on a national level.

My voice lessons and coaching are oriented toward ages 13-plus, high school and college level and adult students. Ages 13+ strickly observed for one-on-one lessons~ Will be considering 13 years of age who are 3-6 months from turning age 14. I do not teach children under 13 years as they would benefit most by learning to play an instrument, such as the violin and piano, to develop their music skills and/or participate in choir/choral activities.

Q. Describe a recent project you are fond of. How long did it take?

A. Organized the Mike Ruckles Masterclass @ the Arvada Center, July 2014
14 Singers participated in the 4 hour master class on Vocal Techniques for Musical Theatre singers. Mike Ruckles, currently conducting for "A Gentlemen's Guide to Love and Murder" (2014 Tony winner for Best Musical) did Q&A about auditioning for Broadway.

UPCOMING Performance Workshop on Saturday, August 30th, 2014 at 7:30pm
FORT COLLINS main stage. This workshop is for those enrolled in weekly lessons.

Performance Workshop on Tuesday - June 3rd, 2014 at 7:30pm
FORT COLLINS main stage. Performance Workshop - 1" monologue emphasis
Arvada Center of Arts & Humanities on Thursday - May 29th, 2014 at 4:30pm - This location will provide a "drop-in & sing" option for outside singers, who wish to try out their pieces, as well as weekly enrolled vocal studio singers.

Voice studio singers from the Arvada studio will perform their pieces with a professional accompanist.

Q. What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

A. Do your research & do not expect music professionals to be "amateurs" in the music business. Project-oriented singers preparing for a specific audition or event or role need to be fully prepared therefore 1 hour lessons are recommended.

Q. What questions should customers think through before talking to professionals about their project?

A. 13 year old voice students and younger need to be learning music fundamental skills in a group situation, like a choir or music camp, not one-on-one intensive voice lessons with a professional.

IT'S A PHYSICAL THING: The young persons' facial structure has not fully developed at that age or younger, not to mention their body.. no matter how mature or advanced for their age that parents feel their child might be~
