FAQs
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
First I ask them what the event is, and how many people are included. This helps me gauge just how many moving pieces are involved. Then, particularly if it’s an event, engagement, or wedding, I ask what are the huge milestones or checkpoints that are important to them. Not only does this key me in on what to take note of, but it lets me know what’s important to my client and what I should create and capture with my images. Once we run through the scenario, I look for any potential gaps or items to consider for the execution. For example, if it’s a surprise outdoor engagement, maybe a contingency should be considered in the event we have inclement weather that day, or if it’s super overcast and a sunset image is desired in the background. This step is crucial for me, as I consult with my client to ensure they aren’t stressed with the intricacies. The more we discuss in the beginning, the more prepared and in-sync we’ll be— and ultimately, satisfied my client will be with the images.
- How did you get started doing this type of work?
My first exposure to a real camera was on a study abroad trip in high school. My friend at the time let me be their personal photographer and I was intrigued with how the DSLR worked. I’ll never forget how interested and invested I was, because I just simply wanted to know how the camera worked. Fast forward through the years and my love for photography was touch and go as the tech evolved. Once I was able to afford a serious camera, I did so and then eventually committed to making a business out of it. Seeing my clients’ joy as they review the images I’ve captured for them brings me joy. There’s just something about producing something that others can consume and invoke a positive response.
