I attended a wedding celebration for a friend at The Rhinecliff Hotel. This is where we met Nick from The Best of Both Worlds. The first thing we noticed was the big Photo Booth that our friends and other guests were waiting online for. We took part in the photo booth and we were very pleased with the props, the instant print out of clear pictures and we were amazed on how user friendly Nick's photo booth was. While getting our picture prints I met videographer who was placing a video camera inside the photo booth to record. I was curious to know what this was. The Videographer explained to me that this was an additional service for the groom and bride. Not only would we get our pictures taken, but he was preparing a slow motion video photo booth montage. This footage would be added along with a funny song, uploaded online, and a link would be given to the Groom and Bride to share with all the guests as an extra party favor. I was thrilled with the idea, and I was interested in knowing more about his services. He quickly introduced me to his wife who was the photographer. I turns out that this husband and wife team work with Nick and provide video and photography services. Along with this and the lights, video projectors, Nick does truly have the best of both worlds. We were so please with the entire presentation of my friends Wedding, that my fiancee and I have decided to book Nick and his team for our own wedding and we are also recommending him to 2 friends of ours who will be having birthday celebrations in early 2017. Best of Both Worlds has it all, DJs, Performers, lights, video screens, photo booth, video and photography services all under one umbrella. This certainly makes our life easier when it comes down to booking.

We hired Nate to film our two wedding ceremonies (Hindu and Catholic). Nate did a great job capturing the moments and made a beautiful highlight reel. Quality of the video is excellent. Nate was a professional through out the process and delivered the video within reasonable time after the wedding.

There are really no words to properly describe my experience with Nathaniel and Intrigue Studios. Outstanding is an understatement. From our first consultation to the very end when we received our wedding video, Nathaniel was not only professional but very personable and easy to get in touch with whenever I needed him! Having dealt with many vendors for my wedding, I know that is very uncommon. His staff was always very professional and helpful as well. Nathaniel's passion for what he does is truly exhibited through his work. Our wedding video is beyond what I could have ever imagined! From the moment I saw the main menu I already loved it! I truly feel that I relive my wedding day from start to finish every time I watch it. It's like a Universal Studios film of the best day of my life! I literally watch it, and at the end, restart it and watch it again. It was truly done with perfection and creativity beyond explanation along with the editing. Nathaniel had over 12 hours of footage to edit into a 2 & 1/2 hour video and it was done so perfectly. Everything important was in the video and fit together so nicely. It was not your typical cookie cutter wedding video... Each moment of our video was personalized for us with some of our favorite songs! I wouldn't change one thing about it. It's absolutely perfect! From your very first consultation with Nathaniel you will clearly see his passion and love for what he does! I strongly encourage everyone to meet with Nathaniel to discuss the endless possibilities with his company. They say a picture is worth 1,000 words, but his videos will leave you speechless!!!

I highly recommend Bob and Cottage Video. We needed to video record our musical production, and he clearly explained our best options as far as camera placement, mics, etc. He arrived right on time and was completely prepared, so there were no worries. I received the completed video when it was promised and was delighted with the result. If you want the peace of mind in knowing that you will receive a high-quality recording of your event, go with Cottage Video. -Brett Roelofs, composer

Melissa was a pleasure communicating and coordinating with! Her and Steve arrived a little early to start on filming while I got ready. Just upon meeting them, they were friendly and super sweet and you could tell they knew what they were doing! I loved the way they filmed without interrupting the flow of the events. They worked ectremely well with my photographers. Steve included an awesome idea to use for his drone shot, which Im so excited to see! Working with them was so easy and pleasant, Im sure Ill be calling them for all of my family and friend's future events because not only is their work perfection, but they are such a great couple! Im looking forward to seeing my wedding video, as well as all their videos from other weddings and events!

I truly cannot begin to say enough good things about my experience working with Chatalbash Studios. I wanted to create a video for my boyfriend for his 30th birthday of all his family sending videos and combine them with photos. From the beginning he completely understood the vision I had and gave me great advice. I was completely in the dark about the process of how to obtain videos from family members and wanted to make the process as easy as possible for everyone. He talked me through it and made it super easy. Anytime I had questions he was always willing to answer them in a timely way and kept in touch with me throughout the entire thing. The turnaround time was unbelievable and just when I thought I might miss my deadline for the project (completely my fault not his) he blew me away and had my video ready in no time! The finished product was EXACTLY what I had in mine. I would highly recommend Chatalbash Studios to anyone in need of video editing services and will definitely be only using his services for my future projects. Thank you!

Three years ago I started taking lessons with luke. I had never picked up a bass before then and in less than two years i was performing on stage. He made possible for me a dream I never thought possible. Even though were now living 1000 miles apart were still doing lessons by skype because even though video lessons are a bit challenging, he's an irreplaceable instructor;)

Overall, it was definitely a great learning experience. He introduced me to recording, mixing & general engineering. He also taught about different ways to contribute to the label & different platforms & avenues to get my music out. He also showed me how to promote not only individual projects but label projects as a whole.

I had a bunch of photo prints that I wanted scanned to DVD so I could upload them to my computer. The photos were of my Mom and all the important people in her life. She passed away 5 years ago and I wanted to do a photo tribute to her life on Facebook and tag her friends and family. Some of the photos were old and some were even torn. I gave all the photos to Steve and he did a amazing job! Not only did he transfer the pictures to DVD but he also retouched everyone of them and they look absolutely beautiful. The attention to detail in the photos was incredible. He put both the touched and untouched versions of the photos on DVD so I could choose the ones I liked best. Thank you so much Steve for all the work you did!! Thanks to you, I was able to make a beautiful tribute. I would recommend ALLONDVD.com to everyone!! ~Tara Broderick

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

What is a videographer and what do they do?

A videographer professionally films weddings and other events and edits the footage to create film keepsakes or marketing materials for their clients. Wedding videographers record all the key elements of your wedding day, ceremony and reception, and then edit the hours of film during post-production to make a wedding video, social media highlight reels, and any other film features you choose. Wedding videography captures, in live action, your vows, the cake-cutting, the first dance, reception toasts, the decor, the guests and all the details of your day. Many wedding videographers also interview guests (based on an interview list provided by the couple) and incorporate the recorded responses into the wedding video. Event videography typically costs less than wedding videography, as events are shorter with less detail. The national average cost for event videography is $500-$760, while the national average cost for wedding videography is $990-$1,260. A videographer usually does not need to be licensed, but it is important to confirm they have insurance and good standing in the business community, as well as good client reviews. A great majority of the work happens during post-production. The pros watch and blend together the hours of footage they took (sometimes from multiple cameras) to capture the story of your wedding day or event.

How do you choose a wedding videographer?

A wedding videographer will create a lifetime memory for you from edited video footage of your wedding day, ceremony and reception. Choosing a wedding videographer starts with looking online at portfolios of their past work. There’s no need to talk to anyone unless you love what you see. Next, make sure they have good reviews and past client experience; don’t be shy about asking for references if there aren’t any posted online. When you find someone who has a style you love, ask if they are available on your wedding day. If so, it’s time to talk pricing. Be clear about your maximum budget, and ask what kind of packages they offer. Pricing will depend on the number of crew needed for filming, the hours they are required to be onsite, post-production editing, and the length of the final product. Talk with several wedding videographers to get a feel for what prices are like in your region. Nationally, the average cost for wedding videography ranges between $990 and $1,260 per event. Once you agree on a product and have a plan, get everything in a written and signed contract. Clearly state the details of what is expected for your wedding day and from the final product. Be prepared to pay a deposit to reserve their services for the day, then pay the remainder upon receiving the video.

What should you ask your wedding videographer before hiring?

Finding the perfect wedding videographer doesn’t have to be stressful. Asking a few key questions upfront will help you find the right fit for your big day. Before talking with wedding videographers, research their work online. Look at their websites, business profiles and social media, and see what their finished wedding videos look like. If the style fits what you’re envisioning, it’s time to reach out. During initial contact, make sure you get along with the person. This is important since they’ll be interacting with you and your guests.

Your first question should be about their availability; there’s no point in going further if they’re booked on your wedding day. Ask to see references if they’re not readily available online. Next, it’s time to talk about money. Ask how they determine rates or what kind of packages they offer. When you settle on a rate and the services you want, make sure to have a written contract that outlines everything, including cost, length of time they film, what post-production will include, and when you can expect to receive the edited project.

How much is videography for a wedding?

Wedding videography is one thing many couples regret not paying for. It may seem like just another expense during wedding planning, but it’s really special to have a moving memory of your big day. The national average cost for wedding videography is $990-$1,260. Pricing can vary depending on wedding length, special film features, the amount of editing required, and how many videographers are needed to cover the event. Many videographers offer packages that provide different levels of service. A very simple wedding documentary could be $600 or more, while a full-scale cinematic experience involving multiple videographers could be $2,500 or more. Here’s an example of average package pricing:

  • Package 1: $1,400
    • Footage during and after the ceremony, including highlights requested by the couple.
    • Two cameras with audio equipment.
    • DVD including a 3- or 4-minute edit to a song of the couple’s choice and a 45- to 50-minute raw edit covering the entire event.
    • Recordings of guests’ good wishes to the couple.
  • Package 2: $1,800
    • Includes everything from Package 1, plus an additional videographer (2 total) and aerial videography.

When do you pay your wedding videographer and wedding photographer?

Most wedding videographers and photographers require a set deposit when you hire them. Wedding season is a busy time and a deposit secures that vendor’s services for your wedding date. It also protects the vendor if the couple changes their mind at the last minute, and they can’t find a new booking and lose work for the day. The deposit may be anywhere from 20 percent to  50 percent of the agreed-upon total price. Always get a written confirmation that your deposit has been received.

The remainder of the wedding videography and photography bill may be due in the week before to your wedding or on the day of the wedding. Other vendors may require a second payment immediately before the wedding and a third and final payment after the wedding video or photos are delivered. Each vendor has their own policies, so before hiring be sure to read, understand and agree to payment protocols. There is no requirement for tipping wedding videographers or photographers, but if you do want to tip them, the end of the reception is the appropriate time.

Hire skilled professionals for absolutely everything.
