Matt L. says, "I have been taking guitar lessons from Pete for about 5 years now. The 5 years that I have been getting lessons have been a really good and I have learned so much about the guitar. Firstly, when I first started I was starting from scratch and had absolutely no idea on how to play. But now im able to play with pretty good speed and keep up with the fast songs. His teaching style I believe is very good and easy to understand, helping you excell in whatever you are doing. And it' not boring at all. Each lesson I have had, I have at least laughed a couple of times. So overall he is a great teacher who I would recommend to anyone if they were looking to learn the guitar or any other instrument he teaches. "See more

James G. says, "Chris is an amazing teacher. He is just as gifted as a player, as he is at teaching. He’s been playing probably since he was old enough to hold an instrument. He comes from a family of extremely talented musicians, all of which are deeply immersed into the bluegrass scene. He truly is a master of his craft. Seeing and hearing him play music that I love, so well, inspired me to take up mandolin lessons from him. When Chris lived in VA (about 25 minutes from me), I saw him weekly for lessons. I love the focus on learning “by ear”, how to pick out/play a tune. I also really like the fact, that while he teaches me songs we discuss in depth what is happening on a theoretical level in a manner that’s easy for me to grasp. He’s given me tools and a skill set to start putting together my own melodic contributions over a chord progression, which for me is money in the bank as I’d like to sit down with a group of people playing and be able to pick along. I can say without a doubt that in the 9 months that he lived nearby, that I’ve learned more from him that any other teacher I’ve ever worked with. It definitely helped to follow his suggestions on what and how to practice on a daily basis. I try to make myself available when he’s in town for lessons. I’ve continued my practice, even after his move. The results have been pretty obvious to me. What at one time seemed difficult and strange to my hands and fingers, is now is starting to feel a little more natural. I’m starting to hear our theory discussions jump out at me, when listening to others play (even in other musical genres). I play/practice on my daily train ride home. I’ve had several strangers approach me (probably 5-6 times) and thank me for playing! Funny since I’ve only been at it about a year. It’s definitely been a confidence booster and inspiration to keep on keeping on. Heck, I may even consider guitar lessons from Chris next (he does Skype & video lessons too!)."See more
