I gave him the task of updating my 1980's home. I needed my master bathroom completely remodeled. He remodeled my master bedroom. Removed a skylight that was leaking and closed up the roof and repaired my ceiling. Removed the fireplace and gave me a linen closet. Ripped up the carpet and installed a new hardwood flood. Painted the bedroom. .My kitchen and dinning room needed to be completely gutted, the wall removed between the rooms and combined into one large room with an island. The cabinets needed to be stripped and refinished. He removed the soffit and added crown molding on the top of the cabinets. Took the refrigerator and pantry cabinet and installed them in the wall to enlarge the kitchen even more. He even changed the entrance from the hallway into the kitchen/dinning from squared off ceiling to an archway which gave the look of a new addition to the home. He knocked out the window in the dinning room and replaced it with a sliding glass door. Built a large back deck for entertaining. Built a gazebo right next the the deck so that I can just walk onto the deck and into the hot tub in the gazebo. Poured a concrete slab. Then installed a hot tub. It looks like a new home throughout. My family and friends would walk into my home and their mouth would just drop open in disbelief. It doesn't even look like the same home. His attention to detail reflects the years of experience this man has in carpentry. When you explain what changes you would like to do to a home. He can tell you what will work and what won't. He brought to my attention that the electrical wiring was not done correctly when my home was built. So I had him correct that as well. Hiring Jacques to update my home was the best decision I ever made. Spending the money for updating and repairing my home was well spent. My home is worth a lot more thanks to Jacques. I would highly recommend him for any size job. He is a one man operation, but gets the job done like a whole crew of men. He constantly keeps the job site clean so the dust is minimal. I would not hesitate to hire this man. He is professional, knows what he is doing and can be trusted with your home.
Jim is friendly, professional, respectful, and knowledgeable. He was also very efficient. What was really important to me was that he was able to come the day I requested the job on Thumbtack. On a Saturday, when I was home! He was later than his estimated time due to other calls, but I was very grateful for same day service. My older refrigerator had a problem, and I had a dinner party scheduled within several days. I could not have it break down. He had the part with him to fix it. I also asked him to look at my dishwasher. He had to order those parts because it was an old dishwasher.
I was in the middle of a home renovation project to improve/upgrade a kitchen and bath last updated in the 1980s. I took on the role as contractor in order to save money, but realized that I opened up more than one can of worms, since I was also challenged by the fact that my cottage was originally built as a summer only residence, circa 1900s. the cost of the plumbing alone went over the roof, leaving less funds for the electric and new fixtures. After getting incredibly high-end quotes from local electricians which I could not afford (they knew they were walking into one big can of worms!), I was stuck between a rock and a renovation in progress-no turning back!. On an impulse, I put a call out on Thumbtack for an electrician to contact me for what was an immediate need for someone who would take on the electric upgrade, who was insured and licensed to work in Massachusetts; within 15 minutes Frank Boyer emailed me that he was in my area and could drop by to review my project. He came by within 2 hours of the email, informed me how he would go about the project, and gave me a flat rate that I could handle. I was also happy to take on any prep work that did not involve an electrician- like drilling holes for snaking the new wires. Frank was great, pretty much completing the project in record time, meeting all code requirements, and arranging to meet with the electrical inspector to make sure all work was done to code. All this amazing work added up to 20 hours of specialized work. All fixtures and all ancient lines were rewired or replaced before completion. He guarantees all work and is available to answer any follow up questions after the project is completed. It feels great having met Frank and knowing I can call him for advice on any new projects. All in all, you can't get a better person who knows what he's doing and has great people skills. Frank's not out to "milk" you, and gives you the chance to learn about the positive and negatives aspects of electrical work, which is rocket science to most home owners. Thanks Frank! Thanks Thumbtack! May the force be with you!
Installed kitchen cabinets, light fixture (ceiling fan w/light), painted kitchen, installed faucet, hooked up ice machine for refrigerator, & installed ceramic tile floor. Excellent work, professional, clean and punctual. Very happy and pleased with overall job. Highly recommend.
Before putting my house on the market, I decided my kitchen needed some remodeling. I found Quality Home Improvements here and spoke with Eric. He was polite, respectful, and knowledgeable. After a recent divorce I was skeptical in starting this process. After meeting with Eric I felt at ease. He installed bamboo floors, moved the wall where my refrigerator was back 4 feet which made room to build a center island, and my granite countertops came out flawless! Eric also suggested accent lighting and helped me choose the paint color, which was exactly the look I was going for. This took 3 weeks from start to finish. Eric was prompt and kept me informed throughout the job. I was impressed with his attention to detail and his ability to help me understand the renovation process. I will be referring friends and family to Eric.
