I am not good with drywall, in fact, I hate drywall...it's the bane of my existence. These guys were AMAZING - I needed drywall done in a bathroom remodel and these guys came to my house and were able to get the job done in less than 4 hours; they were able to cut, tape, mud and sand the walls in the bathroom and left the area clean and ready to paint. I would definetly hire these people again for the work that they did. Thanks a lot!

I had my entire 4 bedroom house and downstairs basement's carpet cleaned and Katt Carpet did a great job. My downstairs carpets were given extra treatment due to my cat's "accidents". He even came back an extra time to completely get out the urine smell. He cleaned the grout in my kitchen tiles and went beyond expectations by moving out my refrigerator and stove to clean underneath! Highly recommend him for quick responsiveness and staying with the job until it was done!

John is very accommodation and made everything look good under a budget while meeting and exceeding my expectations! The job wasn't easy, he had to repair mistakes made by previous contractors. New sub floors and flooring, trim, cabinets, drywall and repairs, plumbing of the toilet and sinks and vanities. It's a very old apt and nothing is square or even but he made it look fresh and new!

I have had the opportunity to work with Michael as a peer, employee, sub-contractor of his company, and hired sub-contractor for my company. Michael truly is the most knowledgeable person I’ve ever worked with when it comes to the Carpet Cleaning, Water Restoration, Upholstery Cleaning, Tile & Grout Cleaning, VCT Floor Care, Window Cleaning, and general Building Service trades. I know this because he is the technician I call when I need help on a project, ideas on how to complete a difficult task, or when I’m just plain stumped! He knows his trade extremely well from the scientific, and more specifically, from the chemistry side as well as from the practical application side. He is great to work with, bringing his attention to detail to every project yet he is able to accomplish tasks efficiently. I would like to emphasize that he expects quality with any job that bears his name. His communication and people skills are excellent, and he has some very innovative ideas. I can highly recommend him for any project you need him for. If a particular job presents obstacles he is well suited to the challenges it provides. In fact he almost does better with a job that presents challenges! Michael is a talented person all the way around. If you need any additional information, please contact me. We have two dogs and two cats...so no matter how much I clean, it seems to always smell like animals! The first thing I noticed when I got home was that the whole house smelled soooo clean! The floors were shining and I’ve never seen the kitchen and bathrooms so clean in my life. Talita was responsive and professional in all her communication. I will definitely be hiring her again!

BTR Tile and Stone has done both shower pan repair and tile installation in the master bathroom walk-in shower and tiling of the floor, walls and ceiling for a complete renovation in a lower level full bath. The work is stunning, everyone comments on its beauty and I couldn't be happier with the results. Jeff is also a really nice guy.

"We had JC General Cleaning do a deep cleaning of our house before we listed it with a real estate agent. The process of scheduling was not perfect, but worked out fine. Julio supervised the crew carefully. In the end, the house was sparkling clean. The price was very fair. I would definitely recommend and/or use them again!" Tom C.

We used Kelly to do a deep clean at our home. 3 dogs and a 4 year old had taken their toll on the bathroom, windows and floors. In 1 days work the entire house looked brand new! The bathroom shower and all the windows and doors were cleaned better than we could ever get them!

Cida and Janine are wonderful! With three ladies, they cleaned our house efficiently and beautifully. We have about 2800sq ft and hardwood floors were left spotless, bathrooms shined and my kitchen, which we use multiple times a day, is cleaned to perfection. The ladies are very friendly and trustworthy. There's no doubt we will continue to hire them!

      Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

How can I get my grout clean?

Dirt, mildew and grime can make your grout lines look downright tragic. If you have the ability, DIY tile and grout cleaning is definitely doable. Your main obstacles are time, project size, availability of the right materials and effort. Your first step in tile and grout cleaning is making sure the surface area is cleaned of basic dirt and buildup and wiped down. Be sure not to use a bleach-based cleaning agent, which could react dangerously with the vinegar used in later steps.

Depending on the delicacy of your tile and grout, it may be wise to start with water and friction before proceeding to a cleaning solution. In the shower you can spray the area while brushing gently, or use a spray bottle filled with warm water on countertops or floors. If water won’t do the trick, try a solution of equal parts warm water and white vinegar, and repeat the gentle brushing motion. This combination should begin to lift dirt and grime from the grout. For additional tile and grout cleaning power, baking soda applied directly to grout lines and sprayed with your water vinegar solution can help suds off sticky grime. If your DIY cleaning solutions aren’t doing the trick, store-bought sprays and pastes may have more cleansing power. Rinse thoroughly after cleaning and enjoy your sparkling clean grout.

Tile and grout cleaning supplies include:

      • Old standard or electric toothbrush
      • Stiff bristle brush
      • Spray bottle
      • White vinegar
      • Commercial grout cleaner

How do professionals clean tile and grout?

If you need tile and grout cleaning and don’t have the time or mobility for scrubbing your entire house on your hands and knees, it’s time to turn to the pros. Tile and grout cleaning professionals have industrial-grade machines designed for the sole task of cleaning the porous materials of grout and tile. Typically, a cleaning pro will come out to assess the job and provide you with a quote. Often they charge per square foot (for example, 75 cents per square foot), with higher prices or an hourly rate for areas that will need hand cleaning. The national average cost for tile and grout cleaning ranges from $190 to $250. Once onsite, the pros thoroughly clean the area by wiping or sweeping down and then vacuuming up any dry dirt. Next a chemical tile cleaner is sprayed over the surface, causing dirt to loosen and adhere to the spray; the industry term for this is “suspension.” The pros then clean the floor with professional-strength machines, which often use a combination of steam, brushes and vacuum to loosen, agitate and lift entrenched dirt. Your floor is then rinsed, removing all the spray. Usually a small room can be cleaned in under an hour. Applying a sealant afterward is recommend and will also affect cost.

How much does it cost to clean tile and grout?

The national average cost for tile and grout cleaning ranges from $190 to $250. Pros may charge a flat fee or by the square foot. Rates can vary depending on the type of tile and grout you have (more delicate tiles may mean specialized products or careful handwashing), how dirty your tile and grout are, and what part of the country you are in (regional labor rates and costs to do business affect costs). For example, one floor cleaning company charges 75 cents per square foot for tile and grout cleaning for projects that permit cleaning by machine. Another company may charge $30-$50 per hour for hand-cleaning of tiles. Companies often charge a minimum fee for services to ensure their business expenses are met when they accept a job, no matter how small. In addition, a tile and flooring cleaning professional may charge added fees, such as $25 or more, to move heavy furniture or appliances.

Hire skilled professionals for absolutely everything.
