I recently had some work I needed done (a illustration and logo revision) and happened to stumble across Mr. Carlson and decided to contact him and I’m really glad I did. He was more than willing to accommodate my schedule as well as touch base with me via phone call for a consultation pre project with a detailed plan of approach to tackle what I needed done. His years of experience shows and pricing is more than fair for the quality of work that was presented. When we had initially spoke he had given me a rough estimate of about a week or two to complete this project depending on reworks etc and ended up having everything I needed done within a few days. He was extremely professional, knowledgeable, and it was such a pleasure to had been able to work with him. I have more projects planned for the future and will be returning to have them worked on by Mr. Carlson as well as recommending him to anyone that needs a graphic design project done.

What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
I prefer to set pricing on a project-to-project basis. Depending on the type of design in question, certain projects can easily be more or less expensive. For example -- adapting an existing graphic for print would require less time and resource than generating a new one from scratch.
Think of the prices on my profile as being realistically more of a "Starts at..." price rather than a guarantee. There's simply too much variety to the different styles of design that I'm proficient in to set a singular hourly rate, and every project requires a different level of care and attention.
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
I typically prefer to start every project with a consultation phone call where I speak to my clients at length about what they wish to accomplish with their design.
Will your design need to be printed? Is it a logo or branding for a company? Does it need to be adapted for your website? All of these questions and many more can impact the way in which we might tackle your project.
Once I have a firm understanding of your individual needs, I then like to help new clients understand what to expect in terms of time-frame, pricing, and my logistical process for making any revisions. Then we get to work!
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I studied Graphic and Web Design at the Boston University Center for Digital Imaging Arts from 2012-2013 -- although the reality is that there's simply no better educational process than hands-on work. (Besides, half of what I learned in school isn't even relevant anymore)
After over a decade of working professionally in the field, I find that the majority of my work at this point is informed by the tens of thousands of hours I've spent working with clients to dial-in their specific wants and needs.
